I created this card using the new Tim Holtz Holiday Stamptember 2016Stamp set and my MISTI. I used my Tim Holtz Markers to color the different parts of the wreath and repeated stamped it in my MISTI.  It was so fun to make. I can't wait to color some other images with my MISTI. I used Festive Berries Distress Ink to stamp the plaid on the bottom. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Card Challenges #44 - Decorations

I had the perfect stamp for this. It was part of my new PaperArtsy JOFY #47 stamp set. I love this fund cupcake holder filled with holiday decorations. I used Distress Inks (Salty Ocean and Squeezed Lemonade) to create the background and I watercolored with Distress Markers to color in the images. It ended up being a fun and colorful card. Mondo Poinsettia Christmas Card

I did some shopping at the Ellen Hutson 40% off holiday items sale last week. I was happy to get the Ellen Hutson Essentials Mondo Poinsettia Stamp and Die set. I stamped the Poinsettias with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then colored them  with Copic Markers.  I read through this tutorial by Sharon Harnist to get ideas for what colors to use.

I layered several of the Poinsettias on top of each other with foam tape and added three of the leaves from the set. I inked the edges of my Neenah Classic Crest Card stock with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink and lined the edges lightly with Antique Olive Distress Ink. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted stamp set called Joyeux Noel.

5 for 5 Christmas 2015 Day 1 - Glitter

Welcome to Day 1 of our 5 for 5 Christmas Blog Event. Today our theme is "Glitter". We are all sharing a project where we used glitter. For my project today I painted some wood blocks green and added some white glitter letters. After I looked at the white letters, I thought they would be nice in red so I used an ink blender and rubbed in some Festive Berries Distress ink over the letters to make them a red. 

After the red distress ink was added. I think they look more Christmassy!!

If you saw my 5 for 5 Halloween projects, these letters are the backsides of the BOO letters I made for Halloween. So this is a 2 for 1 project.

5 for 5 Thanksgiving Day 1: Watercolor

Welcome to Day 1 of our 5 for 5 Thanksgiving Blog Event. Today our theme is "Watercolor". We are all sharing a project where we used watercolors. Each day our 5 Designers will post a Thanksgiving Inspired Project based on a theme. Some of us are offering prizes, so be sure to visit all the links below and leave comments.

For my card I used Avery Elle Stamps. I water colored a piece of card stock with Koi Water Colors and cut it down to fit around the acorn. I stamped the acorn on Kraft card stock and then brushed it with a light brown water color to make it fit the water color look better. I colored the leaf with green distress inks. I added some Tim Holtz Hemp twine on the bottom. The square stitched die is from Lawn Fawn. Christmas Card Challenges #14

It's time for this week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week our Challenge is to use only sentiments on your Christmas Card.  I hope you will get a head start on your Christmas cards and join us this week. I ended up making two cards for this challenge, because they were so fun and easy to make. To make these cards, I stamped a Hero Arts background stamp in Versafine black archival ink and then used different distress inks to color the card. Then I sprayed them with some Silver Smooch Spritz, more on the second one. Finally, I inked the edges with a Prima Black Coal edger.  To finish off the card I added some Tim Holtz paper string and a Holiday token.

Unity Friends With Flair Friday

I'm uploading this little canvas to Unity Stamp Company's Friends With Flair Friday. I used the Heart/Flag stamp that I got in a grab bag from Unity and my favorite background stamp - Stars of Worn. To get color on the heart stamp I used two small dabbers. I just dabbed on the distress inks to the stamp and then stamped it and cut it out. I used Barn Door and Faded Jeans Distress Inks. I also used the dabbers to create the striped background. I stamped the Stars of Worn background with white ink for the background.

I used a blue Stamper's Big Brush Ben around the edge of the stamp and around the edges of the little canvas. I smudged the edges with my fingers. The word courage is from Tim Holtz Chit Chat and I used the blue pen around the edges of the courage sticker also. The size of the canvas is about 3x4. The easel is fun to use in your house and you can switch out little seasonal canvases all year long. Thanks for stopping by!

More Fun With Dylusions!!

I made these two card with my Dyan Reaveley Dylusions stamps. I will be teaching a class where we make both of the cards May 19 at 10:30 am at The Stamping Place in West Columbia. The one with the purple background uses Distress Inks on the background and the one with the polka dots uses Distress Stains for the background.

I colored all the images with my PrismaColor Pencils and blended them with Gamsol. It's so much fun using these bright colors with these fun and funky images. The stamp sets I used were Doolally Dorris, Lovestruck Lucy, Quintessential Quotes, The Right Words. Tim Holtz February Tag 2012

This tag was inspired by the tag Tim Holtz made for his new 12 Tags of 2012. I am entering it into the Grungy Monday 36 Challenge. I'm also entering in the Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything Goes Challenge. You can get the materials used on this tag at www.simonsaysstamp.com.

The background was embossed in white and then covered with Distress Inks. The Distress Inks I used were Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, Victorian Velvet and Festive Berries. I also used Worn Lipstick Distress Stickles & Embossing Powder on the heart. On the Cupid I used Festive Berries Distress Ink and Barn Door Stickles. I died the ribbon with Spun Sugar Distress Stain. I cut the letters out of the Seasonal Papers Pack. The velvet trim is from Crate Paper. I heated the Distress Stickles on the cupid and he got a little bumpy - but I'm doing that Tim thing of "embracing my imperfections."

Grungy Monday 34 - 3 Crackle Hearts

Well, I finally felt like making another card this week. This one is for the Grungy Monday 34 - Crackle Resist Technique Challenge. Click here to see Tim's video of how to do the Crackle Resist Technique. I used Tim Holtz Seasonal paper and the hearts are made from grunge board using his Love Struck die heart. For the purple heart I used Dusty Concord Distress Crackle with Picket Fence & Spun Sugar Distress Stains. On the pink heart I used Worn Lipstick Distress Crackle with Dusty Concord Distress Stain. The red heart was made with Fired Brick Distress Crackle and Dusty Concord Distress Stain. To finish off the hearts I covered them in Rock Candy Distress Stickles and used the Gold Dabber on the edges. The sentiment is a fabric sticker from Amy Tangerine that I colored with Spun Sugar Distress Stain. Thanks for stopping by.

Grungy Monday - Tim Holtz Valentine Tag

I made this card for the Grungy Monday Challenge. The challenge is to use a Tim Holtz technique from the 12 Tag of Christmas on a non-Christmas item. So I chose to use several of the techniques I used on the tags on this Valentine's Tag - the main technique I used on the heart is the way he treated the snowman on this tag. For this tag I used Valentine paper from the Tim Holtz seasonal paper pack. I inked the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and sprayed it with Interference Red Pearl Mist For the bottom I punched grunge paper with a scallop border, covered it with Fired Brick Distress Stain and then put Fired Brick Distress Stickles on it (you can't really see the sparkles in the photo). Then I put 7 Gypsies buttons on the scallop trim. 

I die cut the Valentine on grunge paper and covered it with Worn Lipstick Crackle Paint. When it dried I covered the heart with Fired Brick Distress Stain. For the numbers I covered chipboard numbers with Spun Sugar Distress Stickles and adhered them to the heart. I adhered the heart to the tag with foam tape. I cut out the XO from paper pack, inked the edges with Work Lipstick Distress Ink and attached it to the tag with foam tape and added a Tim Holtz paper clip. I added ribbon and tulle to the top of the tag. Thanks for taking a look!!

Hero Arts Sketch Challenge - Newspaper Flower

I made this card using some of my new and old Hero Arts stamps for their current sketch challenge. I used the Zig Zag background stamp and the Newspaper Flower. I mixed several different Distress Inks on a white piece of card stock to get this purple color. Then I stamped the flower on the paper 3 times and cut out the different sections and attached them with foam tape. The sentiment is from the Everyday Sayings stamp set. Thanks for taking a look!

Tim Holtz Tag Day 5 - Inspiration Tag

Here is the the Tim Holtz Day 5 tag of his 12 days of Christmas Tags. Here's the tag I used for inspiration today. It's his second card because I didn't really have the items necessary to make the wreath he made on the first one. 

Here's my tag. 

Here's what I did. 


First I rubbed Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen Distress Inks on the #8 Manilla Tag since I don't have Kraft Tags. Then, on a panel of white card stock I put on Iced Spruce and Weathered Wood Distress Inks and stamped Tim Holtz snowflake stamps in Iced Spruce on the panel. Then, I stamped the small Tim Holtz Merry Christmas stamp on the bottom right side. 


To make the deer, since I don't have the stamp he used, I painted grunge board with my silver dabber, then stamped the Hero Arts Collage Music Background in black ink on it, then I die cut the deer. 


To make the ornaments I used Cranberry and Watermelon Alcohol Inks on the red one and Meadow and Lettuce Alcohol Inks on the green one. When they dried I stamped with Black Archival Ink - I used the Hero Arts Swirl Christmas tree. The technique didn't really work too well, but you can see the swirls a little. For the tops of the ornaments I cut small pieces from the grunge board I painted silver and glued them to the top of the ornaments with Glossy Accents.Then I glue the silver thread to the ornaments and taped them down on the back with tissue tape. 


The ribbon is seam binding with linen thread from Stampin Up. 


This one was a little more out of my comfort zone, but in the end I like the finished product - it just took a while to get there. Thanks for taking a look!!

Tim Holtz Tags Day 4 - Inspiration Tag

Here's the inspiration tag for Tim Holtz Day 4 of his 12 Tags of Christmas. If  you notice his snowflake at the top of the card looks a lot like my snowflake from day 2 - just saying... :)

Here's my tag.

Here's what I did to make this tag. Mostly what Tim says on his blog with a few different colors and items. 


First I painted the grunge board with the white dabber and die cut the snowman and snowflake. Then I covered them with Picket Fence Crackle paint. I don't have Rock Candy Crackle so I rubbed Rock Candy Distress Stickles over the snowman and snowflake after the crackle took effect. Once it all dried I colored the snowman with Broken Glass and Spun Sugar distress stains and it gave kind of a purple effect - which I really like since purple is my favorite color. I added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles on the top of his hat for a frosty effect - like Tim said. 


For the tag I put distress stains on the craft mat and rubbed the tag over them. I forgot to spray the tag with water first so I did it after. The stains I used were Broken China, Spun Sugar and Picket Fence. Then I used the Hero Arts Snowflake Background stamp with Broken China Distress Stain and stamped the background. Then I sprayed the tag with Vanilla Smooch spritz so it's sparkly, but it's hard to see in the picture.


For the finishing touches I adhered the snowman to the tag with foam tape. I put tulle through buttons and adhered them to the bottom of the tag with foam tape and glossy accents. I also used some American Crafts Natural Chipboard letters for the numbers. I painted them with the gold dabber and when it dried put Glossy Accents on top, then I put them on the snowman. I adhered the snowflake to the top of the card and tied tulle and ribbon as a scarf, tied tulle and Stampin Up tinsel to the top of the card and finally I added some Hero Arts pearls to his hat. 


This was my favorite tag yet, mainly because of the colors and the fact I love snowmen. BTW, how do you like my new blog header?

Tim Holtz Tags Day 3 - Inspiration Tag

I woke up early and got started on todays tag that was inspired by Tim Holtz Day 3 of his 12 Tags of Christmas event. Here is the inspiration tag. 

Here's my tag. 

Here's what I did:


First, since I didn't have a kraft tag I sponged on distress ink in Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen. Then I inked the large Hero Arts Background stamp with the three holiday distress inks - Festive Berries, Evergreen Baugh and Iced Spruce and stamped it on the tag. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo distress Ink. 


For the leaves I used a Spellbinders die and used grunge paper. I colored the leaves with Evergreen Pine Distress Stain and sanded the edges. I glued them to the tag with glossy accents. Then I added red rhinestones for the berries. 


For the top I just added a canvas ribbon. The star is a Spellbinder die on grunge paper. I put tissue tape on the star, colored it with a copic marker and inked the edges with my gold dabber. Then I added Rock Candy Distress Stickles to the tape and dried it with the heat gun. I attached it to the tag with Stampin Up Linen Thread. I thought the star looked interesting after it wrinkled up when I used the heat gun on it to dry the Distress Stickles.  Here's a close up picture. Gift Card Tin Using Gel-a-tins Stamps

Here's my first project that was highlighted on the Gel-a-tins Blog and Facebook page last Wednesday. Each design team member has a different day of the week and my day is Wednesday. The stamp set I am using this month is called Fancy Doily. It has 3 sentiments and one large medallion stamp. I repeatedly stamped the medallion in different color distress inks to make the background. For more info on this gift card holder check out the Gel-a-tins blog.

Witchy Mimi Halloween

I made this card with my first ever Penny Black stamp set called Mimi's Halloween. I saw it at the crop Friday night and just had to get it. I have issues with will power and stamps!! I just knew I could make some really cute Halloween cards with these images and here's my first one. I colored them with Copics and sponged the background with Tim Holtz distress inks and the houses are a Tim Holtz die. Thanks for taking a look!

Butterfly Tag

I made this card for the tag challenge this week at My Unity Place. I used a Unity Itty Bitty Set called Be You. I embossed the images and sponged on the background with distress inks. Thanks for taking a look!

Instructions
1. Emboss Butterfly and Sentiment on tag in white
2. Sponge on Antique Linen Distress ink over whole tag, then sponge on Victorian Velvet concentrating on the areas over the white embossing, then sponge the Peeled Paint around the edges
3. Ink the edges with Victorian Velvet
4. Add trims, buttons and pearls
