Christmas Card Challenges #7

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have a Photo Inspiration challenge with some horses in the snow.  I can't wait to see what you create!

I tried out the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Worn Lipstick on this card. I used regular distress ink on the wooden letters and spray with Goosebumps texture spray for this cool effect.  Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly "Sweet Inspiration" - Mid Month Inspiration

I made another project for this month's Mixed Media Monthly "Sweet Inspiration" Challenge. I wanted to use my Stampendous Urban Scribble stamp and stencil set designed by Nathalie Kalbach. I really love this set and how many ways you can use it. It has a rubber stamp and a foam stamp that has a flat side and a detailed side. Plus, it comes with a cool stencil.

To start my art journal page, I painted on the flat side of the foam stamp with PaperArtsy Fresco paints. Then, I stamped on top of the paint with the rubber stamp using Archival Ink. To fill out the rest of the journal page I created a frame around the city using the Dylusions large journaling block. I covered the "frame" area with Dreamweaver Pearlescent Paste from Stampendous and painted over it with PaperArtsy blue paints. While the blue paints were wet I sprinkled some Frantage Glitters over it. It's hard to see in the photo, but the frame is quite randomly sparkly.

Then, I used the stencil to fill in the area around the city and to tone down that color I painted over the stenciled area with some white watercolor paint. To make it more of a "Valentine's Day" theme I traced the large heart using a Maya Road mask and painted it in with Pearlescent Embossing paste that I colored with PaperArtsy red translucent paints. The letters are a Tim Holtz font that I covered with the white Pearlescent paste. To finish it off I added some black and white pen work and some small heart shaped bling on the buildings.

Christmas Card Challenges #6

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have a Photo Inspiration challenge with some horses in the snow.  I can't wait to see what you create!

I was inspired by the horses and the snow. Since I don't have any horse stamps, I used an my Ellen Hutson Leaping Deer die. I also used a 12x12 paper pad from Recollections called Ice Crystals. I sprayed a few sprays of Tattered Angels Chocolate Brown Glimmer Mist on the background paper just to make it a little more interesting. I also used an Espresso Distress Marker to line the edges of the deer and other elements of the card to make them stand out a little.  I adhered the deer and sentiment with foam tape. I also went over the snowflakes in the deer and the letters with a clear Wink of Stella pen so you can see a little sparkle. Thanks for stopping by!

PaperArtsy Love Mini Pallet

I created this Valentine's mini pallet (Maya Road) using PaperArtsy Emma Godfrey stamps and paints and Archival Inks. To finish it off I covered the heart in Tattered Angels Glitter Glam glitter paint.  I was inspired to enter the PaperArtsy challenge by this post by Tracy Scott.

I took some pictures along the way of the process. Here they are.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #33 - Sweet Inspiration

It's time for a new challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Our theme is "Sweet Inspiration." Just take inspiration from our challenge graphic. Our sponsor this month is the awesome stamp company Stampendous.  They are offering our random monthly winner a $25 gift certificate.

They were very generous to send our design team members, stamps, modeling paste and their Dreamweaver stencils!! I made a card using stamps from one of the new Pink Your Life stamp sets, and a Mason Jar stamp and die set, and a Make It Pop cutting set.

On the front of the card, I stamped flowers and butterflies in Versamark Ink and brushed pink Perfect Pearls over it to make a subtle background. I used the label and oval dies from the Make it Pop die set and HELLO from a Pink Your Life stamp set. I inked the edges of everything with a Teal ink from Prima.

On the inside of the card, I used one of the Pop Up dies to make the flowers and mason jar stand up when you open the card. I had made a card that didn't work using lots of ink sprays, a Dreamweaver stencil with and Pearlized modeling paste. I decided to use some of the other dies in the die set to cut up the background of my card and added it to the middle of the inside of the card. Finally, with an ink blender brush, I added Distress ink in Shaded Lilac to the white card stock I used to line the inside of the card. The lavender card stock I used for the card is from Stampin' Up. I colored the flowers and mason jar with Prisma colored pencils. I also added some glitter pens to the flowers and sentiment on the front of the card.
