CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #46 - Name that Tune

I made this card for the current CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #46 - Name that Tune - to base your card on a song title or lyrics. My card was inspired by a song from 1983 called 99 Red Balloons by a group called Nena - the original song was in German and called 99 Luftballoons. The stamp are from the Lawn Fawn sets Admit One and Hats off to You. The banner is from Papertrey ink. Thanks for taking a look!!

My 1st Art Journal Page & Good News!

For the past few months I've been checking out bloggers who make art journals and watching Dyan Reaveley create awesome pages with her Dylusions stamps, spray inks and stencils. So, I've been collecting some Dylusions stamps, ordered all the sprays and some of the stencils. It just looks like so much fun, but for some reason I just felt like I didn't know where to start. So, today I just said I'm going to do something and I made this page. The background is made from Dylusions sprays - I love their bright colors and how they blend together. The stamps are also all Dylusions. Today I finally got in my full set of Tim Holtz distress markers so I couldn't resist trying them out on Doolally Dorris and these little houses. Love them!! I also highlighted some areas with a fine point white paint pen.

Part two of my post is for anyone who gets The Stampers' Sampler Magazine. In the new April/May/June issue I have a 3 page feature article called Striking Strips and I also have 3 cards in the Different Point of View Section! I was so excited to see my cards when I got my copy yesterday! Check it out if you get The Stampers Sampler.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!

CAS - You Inspire Me

I made this very CAS card for the current Lawnscaping Challenge #30 and Tuesday Trigger - Simple Elegance - in the Moxie Fab World. The Lawnscaping Challenge is to be inspired by anything and I was inspired by this week's Tuesday Trigger photo. I was inspired by the white moulding with the darker painted wall and by the pink tulips and green stems in the lower right corner of the photo in front of the white fireplace. The flower and sentiment are from the new Lawn Fawn stamp set called Flutter By which was also given to me as my publication incentive - thank you Lawn Fawn!!  Thanks for stopping by!

A Fun Time Scrambling Today!

As you may have read in an earlier post, I hosted the Hero Arts Flickr 90 Minute Scramble today. It was so much fun and there were over 40 cards made for the Scramble. Here are two of the cards I posted as examples for inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!

This one uses the Hero Arts stamp called Newspaper Skyline.

This card uses a stamp from the Messages set and paper from Studio Calico.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Here's a fun card I made using a cute Stampin' Up Stamp and the Tim Holtz rosette die. You need this die if you make rosettes - it's so much easier than scoring it by hand!! The solid and patterned paper is Stampin' Up Garden Green. I used craft ink in Garden Green and embossed in clear. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Don't forget to join me for the Hero Arts Flicker 90 Minute Scramble tonight at 6pm EST!!

The Play Date Cafe Challenge

I made this card for the current Play Date Cafe Color Challenge. The butterfly was in my new Studio Calico KOM, the decorative paper is October Afternoon Sasparilla - High Noon. The stamp is from Stampin' Up.

Every time I use this sentiment I think of my friend Leona. It was her favorite thing to say and she would call all the ladies in our running group Club PLJ. Unfortunately, she died 3 years ago in a car wreck. Dusty's Birthday Party in 2008 was one of the last times I saw her. I was glad to see her husband Tom at Dusty's Party last week with 2 of their dogs. So, this one's for Leona - PLJ my friend.

Here's my card.

I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils and then blended with Gamsol. The paper is Confetti White and I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the images both are from Stampin' Up. St. Patrick's Day Layout & a Party!

I've been teaching paper crafts classes at a local assisted living community in the last couple of months. Yesterday the ladies and I made this St. Patricks Day layout. I thought I would share it for anyone who is looking for a simple and easy layout for any holiday. I use lots of stickers because many of the ladies are not able to use their hands very well. The really enjoyed making their pages and we all had a great time! All the materials are from Michaels - I made the letters on adhesive paper with my Cricut.

For the second part of this post, Sunday we had Dusty's Birthday Party. I thought I would share some photos of the festivities. All canines and humans had a great time!!

The party spread
Treat bags I made for the canine guests

Dusty was loving her party!

The Cure for the Winter Blues - Moxie Fab World

I made this card for "The Cure for the Winter Blues" Contest in the Moxie Fab World. Click here to join in on the fun. The challenge was to use Navy in an innovative way. I used the Stampin' Up Build a Blossom Punch to make the flower. This card uses Stampin' Up Night of Navy Card Stock and Decorative Paper. The button and the pearls are both Stampin' Up also. I rounded the corners with my Corner Chomper. I was trying to come up with something graphic that showcase the Navy and I liked the polka dot paper and thought it looked good on the newsprint. So, there it is. Thanks for stopping by!

Tim Holtz March Tag 2012

Today has been a great day. I found out I was a winner in Tim's Tags February Giveaway!! I can't wait to see what goodies I get from Tim Holtz!!! And, on my doorstep was my signed copy of Tim's new book A Compendium of Curiosities Volume II. He is selling the signed copies on his blog!!

So, I was totally inspired to get working on his March tag. Here's a link to the post where he describes how he did the March Tag. Here's what I did differently. I didn't have that cool tape he used so I cut up little pieces of paper and glued them to the butterflies. Then I covered the bare grunge areas with my Zig embossing pen and embossed with Tim's Milled Lavender powder - I don't have Cement and it was the closest I had. Trust me, I wish I had that tape - mine worked, but it was not the easy way!! The paper I used was Vintage Shabby. I made my tag from Stampin' Up Crumb Cake paper and Tim's #8 Tag die. My woodgrain stamp is from Stampin' up. The Distress Ink I used was Gathered Twigs, because I don't have Walnut Stain. Then, I used frilly trim from Tim's Holtz Lavish Trims and colored it with Milled Lavender Distress Stain. Thanks for taking a look!
