I made a simple one layer card this week. A perfect card to make multiples of. I used PaperArtsy JOFY stamps and colored them with my new Zig Clean Color Real Brush Water color markers. I used some bright non-traditional colors to make it more fun.

Christmas Card Challenges #33

It's time for this week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week our Challenge theme is a photo challenge.  Get a head start on your Christmas cards and come join us this week. We now pick a weekly winner and honorable mentions! Thanks for stopping by!

For my card I used a paper pad from DCWV called Candy Cane Lane. I cut different pieces from different paper to create the card. After I adhered all the paper to the card I added some clear rhinestones to the tree and a red one to the start on top. It's fun and easy to make pretty cards with matching papers.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

I made this card for the Unity Stamp Company Friends with Flair Friday. I used the Itty Bitty stamp called Live Half Full and papers from the Heidi Grace Sunshowers collection. I stamped the glass on vellum and turned it over and colored it with Copic markers. Then I stamped it on vellum again and didn't color it and I glued the two pieces together. This made the "clear" area of the glass more pronounced. Thanks for stopping by!

Set of Mini Mixed Media Canvases

While I was on vacation last week in Boston, I made my first visit to the amazing art store Blick Art Materials at Harvard. It was filled with tons of arty goodness. I picked up a set of six 2x2 canvases since they would fit in my suitcase. I hadn't made anything just for fun in awhile and I really wanted to do something fun with my little canvases. So, I used some of my DecoArt and Dina Wakley paints and stencils and created these little colorful canvases that all sort of go together. It was so much fun. Now I need some bigger ones to work on. Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

This is my Unity Stamp Company Friday Friends with Flair post. I'm still working in my mini journal from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft. I used the back of another page that had some light stenciling on it and some splatters and marks from other projects on the page. I stamped the Heart with all the butterflies in Archival Ink and colored all the little butterflies in with my Clean Clear Real Brush Watercolor Markers. I tried to blend in a few colors on the bigger butterflies. I wanted the heart to stand out so when I finished coloring it, I rubbed pink and white metallic Gelatos on the background to lighten it so the butterfly would pop more. Finally, I stamped the sentiment. Both stamps are from the Everything Resides in Hope stamp kit from Unity Stamp Company. I also inked the edges lightly with the black archival ink.

For my card I used a vintage stamp set from Artistic Outpost called Frosty and Friends. I think she is really cute. I stamped her and fussy cut her out and adhered her to the card with foam tape. The corner bow and sentiment are from the same stamp set. Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy 4th of July!!

I'm just making a quick post today to share another project I made for Independence Day. I made it on my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft chipboard mini journal. I covered the page with Tim Holtz Kraft Coordinations Card stock in a neutral color. I sanded the paper first to distress it and bring out the words, then I rubbed a blue ink pad on the top of the page. The flag was die cut from the Tim Holtz flag die and colored with Stampers Big Brush Pens. The star was cut out of card stock, its a Tim Holtz Blueprint stamp and I covered it with Gold Stickles. The sentiment is also a Blueprint stamp.

Happy 4th of July and thanks for stopping by!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

This is my Unity Stamp Company Friends with Flair Friday project. I made this in my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft mini chipboard journal. I used several different Unity background stamps with some bright Archival Inks to make this colorful background. The stamps I used for the background were In Circle Me, A Bit of Burlap, Stars of Worn (my favorite all time Unity background stamp) and the Harlequin from the April 2011 Kit of the Month. The butterfly is an Itty Bitty called Butterfly Effect. I colored in the butterfly a little and inked the edges with some Prima Ink Edgers. The sentiment is from the Kit called Everything Resides in Hope. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #14

It's time for another challenge over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. It's our 14th challenge and our theme is "Summer Days".  Just make a project that to something about summer days. Easy peasy and fun!!

Our awesome sponsor this month is the great online retailer Butterfly Reflections Ink. They are giving our random winner an awesome prize package. Check out the blog for more details.

For my project, I made a shadow box. I don't have a step by step this month, because after I finished the first one, I completely changed it. The only thing that is same is the blue sky background. It was covered with Tim Holtz text paper which your can't see in the photo, but it had some wrinkles in it and they add some texture to the sky. I used different blue acrylic paints and a watered down wash of white gesso to get the final effect. The sun was a wooden piece from Studio Calico. I covered it with Tim Holtz Crackle Paint and it's all crackled, but that is also hard to see in the photo.

To make the water I used a a wave punch on Coredinations card stock. Then I sanded the paper and edges to make the letters and numbers stand out a little. That cute boat is what inspired the whole piece and it looks much cuter in the frame than my original image. I covered the frame with some Cosmo Cricket paper with Decoupage. I cut out the birds from the same paper that I got the boat cut out from. I love how they seem to just fit in this little scene.

Finally, I added the word "Enjoy" from Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers so it looks like its the name of the boat. I always enjoy being on a boat. I adhered the sun and boat with foam tape to make it more dimensional. I also painted the edges of the frame inside and out white and I inked the edges of the frame with a Stampers' Big Brush Pen. There is a clear acrylic layer on the top of this shadow box. If you like the shadow box, you can find them in several shapes at Darcie's
