Christmas Card Challenges #5

It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This time we have a Word Prompt Challenge - Snow. That's a fun prompt. I can't wait to see your wintery snowy creations. 

For my card I used papers, borders, stencils and shapes from the Snow Fun Collection by Carta Bella.  I used white pigment ink in Unicorn from Hero Arts to create the snowflakes using the Snow Fun stencil. I felt like the background was too strong with the white on dark navy paper, so I covered it with a piece of vellum to tone it down. I cut the border with a die from My Favorite Things. Finally, I cut one of the border strips and created a little tree from the words on the border and added a star to the top.  This card was inspired by the words "snow" in so many ways. Christmas Card Challenges #4

It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This time we have a Photo Challenge. There's no time like the "present" to get started on your cards for next year. I can't wait to see what you create. 

For my card I used gold foil papers by Craft Smith from Michaels from a stack called Gold Gifts. I was inspired by the colors in the photo. I added some Xmas Red Stickles to the gold berries and I die cut the word peace in red glitter paper. The peace word die is from Papertrey Ink.  This was a fun and easy card that would be perfect for making in multiples.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #32 - Put a Stencil On It

It's time for another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Our theme is "Put a Stencil On It." This month we are sponsored by Stencilgirl Products and they are offering our winner a $25 gift certificate!! Our guest designer is Stencilgirl owner Mary Beth Shaw.

Since it was January I was thinking it would be good to make Thank You Cards for all those gifts I got over the holidays. I wanted to use blue colors since I think of January as a "blue" color kind of month.

To start, I picked out a piece of blue patterned paper. It's from an old 6x6 paper pad in my stash and I don't know what company it is from. I wanted a pattern that wasn't too busy for me to put a stencil on top of it.

First, I colored some DecoArt Media Modeling Paste with
several different blue Tattered Angels sprays. 

Then, I applied the modeling paste to the stencil leaving it thicker and thinner in different places.
I taped the stencil to my craft sheet using Washi tape so it wouldn't move around.

Finally, added some Prima Crystal Glass Beads. They stuck to the thicker areas.
I let it dry completely and added a spray of spray adhesive to help adhere the beads.
Then, I knocked the edges to take off any beads that were not adhering strongly. 



To finish off the card I adhered the paper using double sided tape to a dark gray card base.
To create the sentiment I used a Lawn Fawn die and sticky back craft foam.

Happy New Year!! It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This time we have a Color Challenge - very neutral and calming colors. There's no time like the present to get started on cards for next year. I can't wait to see what you create. 

For my card I used the Ellen Hutson Stag Die and a Hero Arts Merry Christmas die with some patterned papers to make this quick and simple Christmas card. To finish it off I add some Studio Calico Enamel dots. Thanks for stopping by!!
