Shining Lamps

I did this card for the Hero Arts Flickr March Challenge. This one falls into the layered background category. I used distress inks and my new favorite backgrounds stamp - Life of the Party Dots. This is just a simple card that was fun to make. 

Materials
Card stock - Whisper White (Stampin' Up)
Stamp Set - Decorative Lamps (Hero Arts), Lunar Light (Lawn Fawn)
Ink - Basic Gray, Black (Stampin' Up)
Distress Inks - Milled Lavender, Antique Linen, Dusty Concord (Tim Holtz)
Tools - Martha Stewart Paper snips, sponges, foam tape


Instructions
1. Create card from card stock - final size it 4.25 x 5.5
2. Sponge Milled Lavender distress ink on the bottom of the card
3. Sponge Antique Linen distress ink in the middle and Dusty Concord distress ink on the top part of the card
4. After I sponged on all three colors I went back with the Antique Linen  and tried to blend them together more
5. Stamp background in basic gray
6. Stamp lamps and sentiment in black and cut out with paper snips
7. Adhere to card with foam tape

Life of the Party Birthday

I wanted to do a kids birthday card and decided to use the new Hero Arts and Basic Gray stamp sets called Life of the Party. I used decorative paper on the card for accents and paper piecing to add interest to the cones & pinwheel. 

Materials
Card stock - white (Stampin' Up)
Decorative Paper - Life of the Party (Hero Arts)
Stamp Sets - Life of the Party, Life of the Party Dots (Hero Arts)
Ink - Baha Breeze, Black (Stampin' Up)
Tools - paper snips (Martha Stewart)

Instructions
1. Create card from card stock - finished size is 5 x 5
2. Stamp background dots on card. 
3. Adhere strips of decorative paper to the card
4. Stamp figures on white card stock and cut out with paper snips
5. Stamp figures on decorative paper and cut out the tops of the figure with paper snips
6. Adhere decorative paper pieces to white stamped figures
7. Stamp ticket and cut out
8. Color in stamped images
9. Adhere images to card with foam tape

Blingy Polaroid Camera

I made this card for the Paper Crafts Connection Color Challenge which is basically hot pink, deep purple, white and black. I thought it would be fun to add some glitter and yes, I was playing with my charcoal twine - again. 

Materials
1. Card stock - melon mambo, whisper white, basic black (Stampin' Up) Pansy (Bazzill Basics)
2. Ink - black, melon mambo (Stampin' Up)
3. Embossing Powder - Black (Martha Stewart)
4. Stamp set - Say Cheese (Lawn Fawn)
5. Twine - Charcoal (The Twinery)
6. Glitter Brads - black (Stampin' Up)
7. Glitter Glue - Diamond, Purple (Stickles)
8. Punches - word window, decorative label (Stampin' Up)
9. Embossing Folder - Rays & Retro Circles Set (Tim Holtz)
10. Tools - Big Shot (Stampin' Up), paper snips (Martha Stewart)

Instructions
1. Create card from pink card stock - finished size is 4.25 x 5.5
2. Cut black and white rectangle panels
3. Run white panel in embossing folder through big shot
4. Adhere white panel to black panel
5. Emboss camera with black embossing powder and cut out
6. Color camera with pink marker, then add purple and diamond Stickles and let dry overnight
7. Stamp sentiment and punch out, then punch purple paper with decorative label
8. Adhere sentiment punch to purple label then add purple Stickles and let dry overnight
9. Once everything is dry you can put the card together!! Add black brads to 4 corners and wrap twine around the card twice
10. Adhere black and white panels to card
11. Adhere camera and sentiment to card with foam tape

A Memory Lasts Forever

I made this card with some new stamps I just got today. I used distress ink and pearl mist for the background.


Materials
Card stock - Black, White (Stampin' Up)
Embossed Card Stock - Katydid (Core Impression: Cosmo Cricket Classics Collection)
Clear Stamp - Say Cheese (Lawn Fawn)
Wood Stamp - International Skyline (Hero Arts)
Dye Ink - Black (Stampin' Up)
Distress Ink - Broken China, Frayed Burlap (Tim Holtz)
Spray Mist - Perfect Pearls Mist - Interference Red (Ranger)
Twine - Charcoal (The Twinery)
Small Library Clip - Black (Stampin' Up)
Tools - Embossing gun, sponges


Instructions
1. Make card from card stock - Finished size 4.25 x 5.5
2. Cut embossed card stock to 5 x 3.75 
3. Cut 2.5 x 2.5 square and sponge on distress ink then spray with pearl mist
4. Dry square with heat gun then stamp skyline 
5. Stamp Polaroid, cut out and adhere small square, then adhere to embossed card stock with foam tape
6. Add twine and library clip and adhere embossed paper to card

Baby Elephants

I wanted to use these Elephant stickers to make a baby card for this months Paper Crafts Baby Challenge and I couldn't figure out what to do with them. Then, tonight this came to me. I really like it because the black is unexpected for baby, but I think it works.


Materials
Card stock - Whisper White, Basic Black (Stampin' Up)
Stamp Set - Short & Sweet (Stampin' Up)
Ink - Black (Stampin' Up)
Stickers - Mrs. Grossman - Simply Sassy (I love that they're Mrs. Grossman, I used to fill up sticker books as a kid with Mrs. Grossman stickers.)
Twine - Charcoal - The Twinery
Embossing Folder - Dots (Stampin' Up)
Die - Tasteful Trim (Stampin' Up)
Punches - Word Window, Modern Label (Stampin' Up)

Instructions
1. Make card from card stock
2. Cut a 2 inch strip of black card stock and run through the Tasteful Trim die and adhere to card
3. Place elephant stickers on the card. 
4. Add twine (it easiest to adhere if you just rub glue all over it and you will get messy)
5. Stamp sentiment then punch with word window
6. Punch black scrap with modern label punch and adhere word window to it
7. Punch small holes in black background
8. Put twine through the holes and tie on the back of the card

Merci

This card was inspired by the cute pink & brown ribbon I got this week from Jaclyn Miller. It was blog candy I won from her blog. Here is a link to her blog where you can see her lovely creations. I was also inspired by my new Paris stamps & thought these would go together nicely.

Materials
Card stock: Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, Confetti White (Stampin' Up)
Dye Ink: Chocolate Chip (Stampin' Up)
Stamp Set: Paris, Life of the Party Dots Background (Hero Arts)
Ribbon: Hot Pink Gingham Stripe (Bazzill Basics)
Die: Deckled Edge Oval (Spellbinders Nestabilities)
Punch: Scallop Trim Border (Stampin' Up)

Instructions:
1. Create card from chocolate chip cards stock - final size 4.25 x 5.5 inches
2. Cut rose red rectangle 3.75 x 5 inches 
3. Stamp dots background (which btw I LOVE)
4. Punch the border on the bottom of the pink panel
5. Create the oval and stamp the images in it with Chocolate Chip ink, then ink the edges
6. Adhere oval to card pink panel
7. Tie ribbon around pink panel and adhere to card

Best Friends!

Here's a card I'm entering into the March Unity Stamp Company Challenge. I like all the purses and the colors. 

Materials
1. Card stock - Whisper White, Baha Breeze, Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo (Stampin' Up)
2. Decorative Paper - Eggplant Envy (Stampin' Up)
3. Ink - Elegant eggplant, Melon Mambo (Stampin' Up)
4. Stamp Set - Best Friends (Unity Stamp Company)
5. Tools: Dotted scallop Border Punch (Stampin' Up)


Directions
1. Create the card from Baha Breeze card stock.
2. Cut out a 1" strip of Eggplant Envy decorative paper and adhere to card
3. Cut out a strip of Melon Mambo paper with the dotted scallop border punch and adhere to card
4. Then cut out two rectangles from Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock and adhere together
5. Color in the images on the stamp with markers (I used Stampin' Write markers) and stamp image on white card stock
6. Adhere panel to card

Thinking of You

This is a card I made today for the Hero Arts Flickr 90 minute sketch challenge. It's simple and cheery and it was fun to make. 


Materials
Card stock - Pink, Tahitian Princess, Desert Marigold (Bazzill Basics) white (Stampin' Up)
Dies - Circle, Scalloped Circle (Spellbinders Nestabilities)
Stamp Set - Whimsical House, Everyday Sayings (Hero Arts)
Markers - Various Copics
Ink - Black (Stampin' Up)
Corner Rounder - (Stampin' Up)

Instructions
1. Create card from card stock - Final size is 5 x 4.25
2. Cut pink rectangle at 4.5 x 3.75 inches and adhere to card
3. Cut circles and scallop circles
4. Stamp images and color with Copic markers
5. Adhere circle to scallop circle with foam tape then adhere to card
6. Stamp sentiment on card

Just Because... (it's a great day!)

This happy card uses paper piecing and a decorative border to make a happy card for any occasion. I submitted it to Paper Crafts Magazine for their Color Play section and it wasn't accepted; however, one of my cards was and I'm thrilled that my first ever published card will be in the Sept/Oct issue of Paper Crafts Magazine!!

Materials
1. Card stock - Desert Marigold, Palo Verde, Blue Oasis, Sea Water - Bazzill Basics
2. Ink - Black - Stampin' Up
3. Stamp sets - Friendly Flags, Everyday Sayings - Hero Arts
4. Border punch - Stampin' Up
5. Twine - Papertrey Ink


Instructions
1. Create card from light blue card stock and cut 1.5 inches off the bottom and punch with border punch. 
2. Cut 1.5 inch strips of the other colors, punch with border punch aand adhere one at a time to the bottom of the card
3. Stamp flags on different colors of paper and cut out 
4. Adhere flags to twine, then adhere twine to card (the best way is to rub the twine with glue so you don't see the adhesive)

Materials List
Stamp Set Whimsical Houses - Hero Arts, Sunny Happy Skies (clouds) - Unity Stamp Company
Inks - Ink Pad - Basic Black - Stampin' Up
Card stock - Blue Swiss Dots - Bazzill Basics, Garden Green - Stampin' Up
Decorative Paper - Whisper White - Stampin' Up
Tools - Fringe Scissors, Paper Snips - Martha Stewart, Assorted Colors of Copic markers
Adhesives - Stampin' Up SNAIL & Stampin' Dimensionals (foam tape)

Instructions
1. Create card from card stock - finished size is 4x8 inches
2. Stamp all images on Whisper White decorative paper and color with markers
3. Carefully cut out all images with paper snips and adhere to card with foam tape to a dimension to the card
4. Cut a 1x8 inch strip of green paper and create "grass" with fringe scissors and adhere to card
5. Stamp sentiment on card with black ink.

Shine Brightly

This happy card made from Lawn Fawn stamps uses distress inks and spray mists to create vibrant, shiny colors. 



Materials
Stamp Set - Lunar Lights - Lawn Fawn
Inks - Stampin' Up Ink pad in Basic Black
Distress Ink - Broken China - Tim Holtz
Spray Inks - Adirondack Color Wash Fine Spray Mists in Butterschcotch, Wild Plum and Stream - Ranger Industries; Smooch Spray in Vanilla - Stampin' Up
Card stock - Stampin' Up Whisper White & Basic Black
Tools - Paper snips - Martha Stewart, sponge


Instructions
1. Create card from Black card stock
2. Cut 5.25 x 4 inch rectangle in whisper white
5. Rub distress ink over rectangle and sponge until you achieved desired effect
6. Spray three scrap pieces of whisper white paper with each of the spray mists
7. When they dry (you can use a heat tool to speed up drying process) stamp one lantern on each one in black ink
8. Then carefully cut out each lantern with paper snips
9. Adhere each lantern to rectangle and add other stamped items including "ray" lines, hanging lines, decorative hanging cords and sentiment
10. Spray the entire card with Smooch spray for a shiny effect and adhere rectangle to card

You Lift My Spirits!

This card uses paper piecing to create dramatic hot air balloons floating in the clouds.




Materials List


Stamp Set - Look Up Addition - Practicing Creativity, Sunny Happy Skies (clouds) - Bella Blvd for Unity Stamp Company
Inks - Stampin' Up Ink pad in Basic Black
Card stock - Stampin' Up Whisper White & Bashful Blue
Designer Paper - Celebrations, Whisper White - Stampin' Up
Tools - Paper snips - Martha Stewart, 
Adhesives - Stampin' Up Snail and foam tape - Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions
1. Create card from Bashful Blue card stock
2. Stamp large balloon on 5 different pieces of coordinating decorative paper, then stamp the small balloon on 7 different pieces of coordinating decorative paper (you can use the same paper twice if you want to)
3. Cut out one section of each balloon from each color
4. Stamp the balloon with black ink on white paper and cut out the balloon
5. Adhere the different designer paper pieces on the balloons
6. Stamp the clouds on light designer paper and cut out
7. Stamp one piece of the border on 7 different designer papers and cut out
8. Stamp border on white paper and cut out
9. Adhere border pieces to border and adhere to card - go over edges with black marker to fill in any white areas
10. Adhere clouds and balloons on card with foam tape
11. Stamp sentiment in basic black

This fun card uses dry embossing and paper piecing to add interest.

Card stock - Stampin' Up Whisper White and Bazzill Basics Card stock on Petty Cash, Champagne, and Candlelight
Embellishments - White rick rack - local craft store, twine - Papertrey Ink, small silver brad - Michaels
Tools - Paper snips - Martha Stewart, Pattern #2 and Large Dots Texturz plates from Stampin Up and Label, Oval #3 and Label, Ornate #2 dies from Sizzix, Big Shot from Stampin' Up
Adhesives - Stampin' Up Snail and foam tape - Stampin' Dimensionals, Scotch tape

Instructions
1. Create card from Champagne card stock.
2. Emboss card with large dots impression plate
3. Cut yellow and green strips 5.25 x .5 inches. 
4. Turn them upside down, place them together and tape with Scotch tape
5. Emboss yellow, green strips with Pattern #2 Texturz plate
6. Adhere embosses yellow and green striped rectangle to card
7. Adhere white rick rack to card
8. Stamp shakers in black ink on whisper white, petty cash and candlelight card stock
9. Cuts out white shakers with paper snips
10. Cut out top of shaker in the yellow and bottom areas in the green, then adhere to the white shakers and adhere to card with foam tape
11. Die cut the oval #3 and ornate label with Big Shot
12. Stamp sentiment on white oval, adhere oval to ornate label
13. Glue twine on back of ornate label 
14. Attach brad to card
15. Place foam tape on sentiment frame and "hang" sentiment frame on small brad

Give You the Sea Card

This card uses copic markers to color in a peaceful underwater scene


Materials
Stamp Set - Give You the Sea - clear (Unity Stamp Company - Itty Bitty)
Inks - Perfect Plum ink pad (Stampin' Up) and various copic markers
Card stock - Whisper White (Stampin' Up) Desert Marigold, Lupine and Tangelo (Bazzill Basics Card stock)
Tools - Various circle punches (Stampin' Up), Paper Snips (Martha Stewart)
Adhesives - SNAIL & Stampin' Dimensionals foam tape (Stampin' Up)

Instructions
1. Create card from card stock
2. Cut orange and yellow card stock and adhere together, then adhere to card
3. Cut white rectangle and color with markers
4. Stamp fish, color with copics, cut out with paper snips 
5. Stamp sentiment in perfect plum
6. Adhere fish to card with foam tape
7. Punch circles, color and adhere to card

Fruity Hi Card

This card uses paper piecing to fill this bowl full of fun & cheery fruit.

Materials

Inks - Black ink pad and various Stampin' Write Markers (Stampin' Up), Some Copics

Card stock - Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede (Stampin' Up_)
Decorative Paper - Garden Variety & Material Girl (Cosmo Cricket)
Embellishments - Off White Rick Rack (No source)
Dies - Harlequin - Sizzix Texturz Plate (Stampin' Up), Strawberry Bowl - Simply Charmed (Cricut Cartridge)
Tools - Small oval punch (Stampin' Up), Big Shot (Stampin' Up), Cricut Expression (Provo Craft), Paper Snips -(Martha Stewart)
Adhesives - SNAIL & Stampin' Dimensionals foam tape (Stampin' Up)

Instructions
1. Create card from card stock
2. Die cut bowl and dry emboss with Texturz plate
3. Cut decorative paper and to 5.25 x 3 and 5.25 x 1.5 and adhere to paper
4. Adhere rick rack to card
5. Stamp all fruit in Black ink
6. Color in fruit
7. Cut out fruit - I suggest getting some paper snips for detailed cutting - they make life much easier!!
8. Adhere fruit to card with SNAIL and foam tape
9. Adhere bowl to card
10. Stamp sentiment and punch out with small oval punch
11. Ink the edges of the oval with soft suede ink pad
12. Adhere small oval to card with foam tape
