5 for 5 Thanksgiving Day 4 - Turkey

Welcome to Day 4 of our 5 for 5 Thanksgiving Blog Event. Today our theme is "Turkey". We are all sharing a project where we used a turkey. Each day our 5 Designers will post a Thanksgiving Inspired Project based on a theme. Some of us are offering prizes, so be sure to visit all the links below and leave comments. And join us tomorrow for our last day.

For my card today I used a Unity Stamp Company Stamp set called Build a Turkey. It's one of my favorites. I stamped the turkey and feathers in several different colors of Ranger Archival ink and color them in with Prismcolor pencils and blended with my new Prismacolor blender marker -love it!! The thought bubble is from Lawn Fawn and the sentiment is from a Unity Itty Bitty called Gobble Gobble. I adhered the turkey and sentiment with foam tape. A straightforward card that I made in about an hour tonight!! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the designers blogs below for more Thanksgiving Inspiration.

5 for 5 Thanksgiving Day 3: Sentiments Only

Welcome to Day 3 of our 5 for 5 Thanksgiving Blog Event. Today our theme is "Sentiments Only". We are all sharing a project where we used with the focus on sentiments. Each day our 5 Designers will post a Thanksgiving Inspired Project based on a theme. Some of us are offering prizes, so be sure to visit all the links below and leave comments.

For my card today made my own subway art panel with sentiments and a couple of filler graphics. The sentiments come from so many companies like Unity, Papertrey Ink, Lawn Fawn, Impression Obsession, Hero Arts, Altenew, Denami Designs and Mama Elephant. I used Ranger Archival inks and my MISTI to help me line things up. I adhered the panel to a piece of DCWV colored cork. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the designers blogs below for more Thanksgiving Inspiration.

Christmas Card Challenges #39

It's time for this week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week our Challenge theme is everybody's favorite again - "Anything Goes".  Get a head start on your Christmas cards and come join us this week. Thanks for stopping by!

For my card I used a paper pad from DCWV called Winter Blues and a stamp set from Unity Stamp Company called Holly Jolly Christmas. All the papers coordinate so I had fun mixing and matching them. I found a blue ink that was close in color and stamped the trees and the words on the bottom on the patterned papers. I wanted to keep it simple and monochromatic. I used Tim Holtz ribbon and dyed it with the ink pad I used to stamp the images - Blueberry from Papertrey Ink.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

I made this card for the Unity Stamp Company Friends with Flair Friday. I used the Itty Bitty stamp called Live Half Full and papers from the Heidi Grace Sunshowers collection. I stamped the glass on vellum and turned it over and colored it with Copic markers. Then I stamped it on vellum again and didn't color it and I glued the two pieces together. This made the "clear" area of the glass more pronounced. Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

This is my Unity Stamp Company Friends with Flair Friday project. I made this in my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft mini chipboard journal. I used several different Unity background stamps with some bright Archival Inks to make this colorful background. The stamps I used for the background were In Circle Me, A Bit of Burlap, Stars of Worn (my favorite all time Unity background stamp) and the Harlequin from the April 2011 Kit of the Month. The butterfly is an Itty Bitty called Butterfly Effect. I colored in the butterfly a little and inked the edges with some Prima Ink Edgers. The sentiment is from the Kit called Everything Resides in Hope. Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

This is my Unity Friends With Flair Entry. This is another one of the backs of my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft chipboard mini journal pages. I used DecoArt Decoupage to put Tim Holtz Text Tissue Paper on the background. Then I covered it PaperArtsy Chalk ink in the Chalk Color. I used a credit card to spread the paint. Then I covered the Heart stamp with Cobalt and Red Geranium Archival inks. I stamped the sentiment with black Archival ink. It's a little crooked but what are you going to do? It's just an art journal page. I inked the edges with a mini Distress Blender Tool and the blue Archival Ink. Both the stamp are from Unity Stamp Company. Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Friends With Flair Friday

This is my Unity Friends With Flair Entry. I'm got another back to one of my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft chipboard mini journal pages.

First, I heat embossed the Dandelion Stamp and sentiment in white. Then I blended some Distress Inks on the page. I used Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry and Wild Honey Distress inks. When I finished with the colors I sprayed some water on the top to create some texture on the surface of the colors. It was a quick, easy and fun mini journal page. Thanks for stopping by!!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

This is my Unity Friends With Flair Entry. I'm starting on the backs of my Faber Castell Design Memory Craft chipboard mini journal pages. I used DecoArt Decoupage to cover the background that was a little stained. My napkins were 3 ply, so I took out 2 of the layers and only used the layer with graphics. Since napkins are such thin paper you can see through them and little bit of the pink that was on the journal page shows through which give the background a little more interest. I took some pictures while I made this.

This is the original napkin and the my journal board with some pink stains.

After I tore up the napkin and decoupaged it on the journal board.

I used a Unity Itty Bitty Stamp set called "Wonderful". I colored in the border of the circle with Distress Markers in Seedless Preserves and Fossilized Amber. I stamped with Versafine Archival Black Ink. I adhered the bird in the circle on the board with foam tape. It was another fun and easy mini journal page. By the way, I got these pretty napkins at Tuesday Morning. Thanks for stopping by!

Friends With Flair Friday at Unity

For  my Unity Friends with Flair Entry this week, I made another mini journal page from my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Mini Journal. I created a brayered background using my PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in Slate, Turquoise and White. Then, I stamped a Unity Susan Weckesser background stamp on left side in Watering Can Archival Ink. The flow r is from the new Unity Lazy Daisy set and the sentiment is from Unity Donna Downey Empowered Words. The flower was stamped in Leaf Green and Red Geranium Archival Inks and the sentiment was stamped in Versafine Black.

After I stamped the red flower I stamped it a few times over the background stamp to add a little color to he other side of the page. Then I inked the edges of the page with the Red Geranium Archival Ink and smudged the edges with my fingers. To make the flower stand out more, I outlined it with a Faber Castell Pitt Pen. To finish it off I sprayed it a few times with Dylusions White Spray ink and I put my finger in the Red Geranium Ink and smeared some of the red color around the page. I love how fun it is to make the quick page in this mini journal. It makes it easy to experiment with new techniques.  Thanks for stopping by!

5 for 5 Easter Blog Event - Day 5

Hello and welcome to Day 5 of our new 5 for 5 Easter Blog Event!  Today’s theme is "CAS"! Some of us are offering prizes, so be sure to leave comments on each of links below and visit all the blogs for details on how to win!

I used a fun Unity Stamp on this card called Dying Eggs. I'm entering this card into the Unity Friday Friends with Flair Challenge.

My card isn't the most CAS card I've ever made, but I really wanted to use this Unity Easter Stamp and try some multicolor heat embossing. I used green, pink and blue Stampin' Up Embossing Powders. I outlined the embossed image with a slightly bigger panel of Certainly Celery card stock also from Stampin' Up. I thought it needed just a little something else, so I sprayed the background with one spray each of a blue, green and pink spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang. To  finish it off I added a little light green twine from Stampin' Up.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit the blogs of the other awesome designers taking part in our Easter 5 for 5 Event. Thanks so much for joining us this week and I hope you're inspired to make some amazing Easter cards and crafts. We'll be doing 5 for 5 again at Halloween, so be on the lookout for the dates on my sidebar graphic sometime in September.

Friend with Flair Friday

This week for my Friends with Flair project I made another mini art journal page. To make this page I covered the page with patterned paper and covered with DecoArt DecoPage. Then I stamped a Unity Ruler Stamp and the Burlap background stamp on the background in Watering Can Archival Ink. I also added some circles and other images with a TCW Stencil.

I wanted to tone down the backgound so I swiped Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Picket Fence across the background a few time to make the stamped images a little more subtle. Then I spritzed some Dylusions White spray on the page. Then I stamped the flower in Black Versafine Ink and colored it in with Stamper's Big Brush  Pens and went around the edges with the white Big Brush Pen. To add a little color I rubbed on some blue, green and lime Gelatos in the background. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, it's from the same Unity set as the flower. Then I sprayed Slate Gray Dylusions spray to finish it off. Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

I made this little journal page using Unity Stamps and Tim Holtz Distress Marker watercoloring.  I used the Faber Castell Mini Mixed Media Journal. I colored on the stamps with Distress Markers, spritzed with water and stamped them onto the page. For the border I used a watercolor brush and added distress ink to an acrylic block and picked the color up with the brush and made small brush strokes all around the edges using 6 different colors. The stamps are from the Unity November 2013 KOM. Thanks for stopping by!!

I noticed that many of my fellow crafty bloggers are posting their Top 10 Favorite Projects of 2014. I thought that sounded like fun, so here are my Top 10 for 2014. I'm hoping to be more crafty in 2015 and I'm wishing that you and yours have a very Happy New Year. I think 2015 will be the best year yet!!

A very Tim Holtz 4th of July tag, covered in Sparkle Mod Podge.
The journal page I made for the 1st Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.
An altered box I made for a challenge at the MMMC.
A card I made for the MMMC using lots of textures and Copic Markers.
A tag I made for a Prima Doll Halloween Tag Swap-
I love how the spider web background turned out.
My favorite card of the year. This card was originally a PaperCrafts reject,
but I entered it into the World Card Making Day Contest and it was a winner!!!
I love this image and sentiment by My Favorite Things.
I had so much fun watercoloring this card.
Just a bright and cheery card made using DCWV stamps and papers.
One of the first I made in my new craft room.
I worked a long time practicing my Copic coloring on this Unity image.
I just think it's pretty.

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Swan Song Blog Hop

To go to Day 3 of the 12 Days of Holday Inspirations click HERE.

Today I'm part of a blog hop to honor Paper Crafts Magazine. If you haven't heard, Paper Crafts will be going out of business as of Friday, December 5. Paper Crafts has been such an important part of the Card Making and Scrapbooking world for many years now and we will all miss their publications. They provided us with inspiration and chances to be published. They reported on and set design trends. I think most importantly they provided ways for us to get together and meet each other through their contest and the Moxie Fab World Blog. We are all going to miss Paper Crafts immensely.

I'm sharing a card I made for the last Call for Submissions that I entered. Instead of having a happy mail party the day we were hoping for one, we got an e-mail saying they were going out of business. Such a sad day for Paper Crafts fans.

To make the background I colored with Gelatos, then I blended it all with a water brush. The stamps are from Unity Stamp Company.

I'm sure that everything happens for a reason and the nice people who worked so hard to create this amazing magazine will be moving on to bigger and better things. So, I thought this card was appropriate for this occasion.

Thanks for the memories Paper Crafts!!

You should have come here from Laura Sterckz Blog. Now you should move on the to Rachel Kleinman's Blog.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #6 - Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!! This month our challenge is to use stamps in your mixed media project. Our sponsor is Unity Stamp Company and they are generously offering a $50 gift certificate to our lucky random winner!! All our designers used fabulous Unity stamps in their designs. Be sure to click over and see all the amazing creations our designers made for this months challenge.

I made a little wall hanging for my project. I started with a piece of fiberboard that I think I ordered from Scarlet Lime. I really like how one side of it is textured like burlap. I made that side the front. Then I added a corrugated cardboard panel and I inked the panel and edges with the Sepia Ink. I put an orange Tim Holtz trim around the cardboard panel. Finally, I added a Tim Holtz Holiday Thanksgiving trim for the hanger and attached it with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

To make the turkey, I used an awesome set from Unity called Build-A-Turkey. I stamped all the feathers on different "fall" colored cardstock from Papertrey Ink and Stampin' Up using Ranger Sepia Archival Ink and cut them out. I adhered the wings and the turkey to the panel and added Espresso sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to each of the feathers. Then I added Fired Brick Distress Stickles to the turkey for a little accent. The sentiment banner is a die from Papertrey Ink and I added two orange sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. It was super fun to make and I really like how it turned out.

I hope you will play along with our stamps challenge this month. I can't wait to see what you create!!

For my Day 5 Project I'm sharing a card I made using the Unity Halloween Bottle Cap stamp set. The paper are all from DCWV Halloween stack. This was a quick, easy and fun card to make. I just stamped several of the bottle cap images and a cut the out with a circle punch. Then I layered purple and black circles behind the images. I layered some paper for the background. I loved the sparkly green and thought the circle would pop off that bright green. Also, you can't really tell in the picture, but I adhered 3 of the bottle cap images to the card with foam tape so it had more dimension in person Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back tomorrow for Day 6!
