Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #36 - "Put a Stamp On It"

It's time for a new Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month our challenge it so "Put a Stamp On It" so easy - just make something with a stamped image. Our sponsor this month is my new store www.topflightstamps.com. Our lucky winner will win a $25 gift card from Topflight Stamps!!! I sell stamps from all around the world in one place. Be sure to check out Topflight Stamps.

Each of our designers this month used some awesome stamps from Topflight Stamps on their projects. I used a stamp set by JoyCrafts! from The Netherlands called Seashore Icons - perfect for you summer cards. I really love the images in this nautical set.

First, I used a 6 x 6 navy blue card base and stamped a background from stamps in the set with Versamark Ink. Then I brushed Pewter Perfect Pearls over the Versamark Ink. This technique makes such a pretty and subtle background. I'm not sure why the lighting made the navy card stock look so light, but the second picture is the correct color.

The I stamp the lighthouse scene from the stamp set with my MISTI. I stamped it several times
using different colors in different places with my Tombow Markers. I shaded the edges with a Prima Chalk Ink Edger Pad in Old Road. I matted the paper with a DCWV burlap panel.
I used PPA Glue to adhere the paper to the fabric and the fabric to the paper.
I love PPA because it dries clears and works on almost everything.

Thanks for stopping by!! Be sure to play this month at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #29 - Mood Board

It's time for another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. We have a fun Halloween and fall inspired mood board. Our sponsor this month is Stampotique Originals. They generously sent our design team stamps and we had so much fun creating with their fun and quirky stamps. They are offering our random winner a $30 gift certificate to their online store.

For this challenge I decorated a haunted house I bought last year at Wal-Mart. Stampotique had some awesome stamps for decorating my house. Here are some photos of the process. I painted the house with Tim Holtz paints, then stamped the roof with the spiderweb stamp using Tim's Pewter Distress Paint and the house was stamped with the Never-ending Wall stamp in Archival ink. Here are the stamps I used on this house.

Here is the finished house. I added some Ferro Glitter glue on my purple paint to add some texture. I also added some DecoArt glitter glue to the roof for the same reason.

I colored the pumpkins with Distress Markers and added Glossy Accents on top of them.

I also added Glossy Accents to the skull.

PaperArtsy Hearts Challenge

I made this Hearts painting on a wood block I found at a construction site. The hearts are from a PaperArtsy Stamp set by Emma Godfrey Set #13. I just loved these hearts. I created the background after watching a video by Leandra, the owner of PaperArtsy. They have tons of educational videos and I really love their Fresco Chalk paints and stamps. Here is a link to the PaperArtsy YouTube Channel. Here is the video I watched to make this background. I put the paint on the cut and dry foam and rubbed it on the piece of wood. Before doing this I covered the wood block with gesso and then Chalk Fresco paint.

These are the paints I used to make the background.

I had done something else on this wood block that I ended up not liking so it has some texture and patterns in it that show through in the end.

When I was happy with the background, I stamped on the hearts. I had previously stamped the hearts on paper and cut them out to make masks for this process.

To paint the hearts, I used the Cherry Red paint mixed with some Chalk paint for the smaller hearts. I added some water to Amethyst paint to make it a little see through. I stamped the sentiment with Staz On Black Ink and cut it out. Since I only had room for three lines I had to add the last two words to the third line. After I cut out the sentiment I added black marker to the edges. I adhered the sentiment and sealed the wood block with a coat of DecoArt DecoPage when I was finished.  I just love this little wood block of hearts with an encouraging sentiment.

Unity Friends with Flair Friday

I made this little journal page using Unity Stamps and Tim Holtz Distress Marker watercoloring.  I used the Faber Castell Mini Mixed Media Journal. I colored on the stamps with Distress Markers, spritzed with water and stamped them onto the page. For the border I used a watercolor brush and added distress ink to an acrylic block and picked the color up with the brush and made small brush strokes all around the edges using 6 different colors. The stamps are from the Unity November 2013 KOM. Thanks for stopping by!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #6 - Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!! This month our challenge is to use stamps in your mixed media project. Our sponsor is Unity Stamp Company and they are generously offering a $50 gift certificate to our lucky random winner!! All our designers used fabulous Unity stamps in their designs. Be sure to click over and see all the amazing creations our designers made for this months challenge.

I made a little wall hanging for my project. I started with a piece of fiberboard that I think I ordered from Scarlet Lime. I really like how one side of it is textured like burlap. I made that side the front. Then I added a corrugated cardboard panel and I inked the panel and edges with the Sepia Ink. I put an orange Tim Holtz trim around the cardboard panel. Finally, I added a Tim Holtz Holiday Thanksgiving trim for the hanger and attached it with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

To make the turkey, I used an awesome set from Unity called Build-A-Turkey. I stamped all the feathers on different "fall" colored cardstock from Papertrey Ink and Stampin' Up using Ranger Sepia Archival Ink and cut them out. I adhered the wings and the turkey to the panel and added Espresso sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to each of the feathers. Then I added Fired Brick Distress Stickles to the turkey for a little accent. The sentiment banner is a die from Papertrey Ink and I added two orange sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. It was super fun to make and I really like how it turned out.

I hope you will play along with our stamps challenge this month. I can't wait to see what you create!!
