The Play Date Cafe #167 & 7 Days of Valentine Projects Day 5

Welcome to this week's The Play Date Cafe Color Challenge. This week our colors are Fuchsia, Canary and Sprout.  Our sponsor this week is My Creative Classroom. Be sure to check out The Play Date Cafe to see the awesome prize they are providing!!  I hope you will be able to join us this week. I can't wait to see what you make with these beautiful colors!!

Also, sadly we are saying goodbye to 2 of our awesome designers - Stacy Rodriguez and Jocelyn Olsen. We will miss each of them and their distinct points of view.

I'm combining this week's color challenge project with Day 5 of the 7 Days of Valentine Projects. I made a Valentine Art Journal Page. The background was made using Dylusions ink sprays in Lime Green and Sunshine. The heart was colored with Tim Holtz Distress stain in Pickled Raspberry.  I died the Doily and the flower trim (also Tim Holtz) with the Pickled Raspberry stain also. I drew the border with Sharpie Poster Paint Pens.

The yellow and pink fabric pieces in the heart are from Basic Grey. the larger yellow heart is a fun piece by Pink Paislee - when you color these hearts the chevron pattern comes out! The wings are colored with Lime Green Dylusions Ink spray. The buttons are from Stampin' Up. I was inspired to write a line from Alice in Wonderland around the heart. Here is the quote from Alice "If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

Thanks for stopping by!!

Here's a close up of the heart. The colors are so similar it's hard to see in the picture.

7 Days of Valentine Projects - Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of The 7 Days of Valentine Projects Blog Event. Several crafty bloggers and I are posting Valentine projects every day for 7 days - just for fun.  We’re posting projects we made using products we like and hope they will give you some inspiration for your own Valentine craft projects. You will find links to all the other participating bloggers below. Hopefully you can find time to look at their blogs and leave comments on any that inspire you. Happy Valentine Crafting!!

Today, I'm showing a trio of items I made using my new favorite product - you may have noticed I mentioned it a couple of days ago - GLITTER TAPE. I've been putting it on everything lately! I'm showing three items today that I've covered in American Crafts Glitter Tape. They can all be used for Valentine gifts. I'll explain each one their individual pictures below. Thanks for stopping by!

For this "rainbow" container I just used a soup and wrapped different colors of tape around it. The colors I used are Grape, Plum, Rouge, Cherry and Begonia. To make the pencils toppers I put three strips of tape on a piece of paper and punched out the hearts with my Stampin' Up Heart Punch. I punched out six different hearts and adhered them together with thick foam tape. Very easy and fun!

For this container I used a smaller tin can. I covered it with White and Taffy glitter tape. I punched out the small hearts with a Stampin' Up punch and adhered them to the white glitter tape. It's the perfect size container for a little bag of Valentine goodies and can be used later to hold things.

For this one, I used a plastic Crystal Light container. I covered it with White, Silver and Peony glitter tape. I die cut this cute XO border with a die from Papertrey Ink and adhered it to the Silver glitter tape in the middle. Another easy and fun project!!

7 Days of Valentine Projects - Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of The 7 Days of Valentine Projects Blog Event. Happy Valentine Crafting and be sure to check back tomorrow for more Valentine inspiration!

Today I'm sharing a set of Valentine Cards I made using Tim Holtz Blueprints stamps. I really love all his Blueprint stamps and I have more on order!!! They're just really graphic and fun to color - a little or a lot. I minimally colored these with Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Barn Door and Spun Sugar. For contrast and interest I matted them with some shiny, corrugated red glitter paper by Recollections. I stamped the images on Crumb Cake paper by Stampin' Up with Black Archival Ink. These were really, fun, easy and quick to make and I love how they turned out!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back tomorrow for more Valentine Inspiration!!

7 Days of Valentine Projects - Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of The 7 Days of Valentine Projects Blog Event. Happy Valentine Crafting and be sure to check back tomorrow for more Valentine inspiration!

Today I'm showing a Valentine Card Box. It's the perfect thing for kids to take to school to put their Valentine's in. Normally there is a slit in the top of the box, but the box I used is very thick and I couldn't bare to mess up that beautiful paper!! To make this I covered an empty stationary box (I never throw those things out any more) with decorative papers. The lid is a chevron print called Lucky in Love by My Minds Eye and the bottom is covered in XOXO Funny Valentine by American Crafts.

For the sides of the lid I used my new favorite craft item - GLITTER TAPE!! I can't get enough of this stuff and I won't even discuss how many colors I now own. I LOVE it!! I covered the bottom in Taffy glitter tape and it didn't quite reach the top so I added another layer of tape on top in Aqua. All my glitter tape is from American Crafts. For the front side of the box, I used white Basic Grey letters and for all the hearts I just punched hearts out of the glitter tape and added them to each side of the box. The punches I used were both from Stampin' Up. Thanks for stopping by and if you are encouraged to make something from a project you see along the way, please let us know. We would love to see!!
