5 for 5 Easter Blog Event - Day 5

Hello and welcome to Day 5 of our new 5 for 5 Easter Blog Event!  Today’s theme is "CAS"! Some of us are offering prizes, so be sure to leave comments on each of links below and visit all the blogs for details on how to win!

I used a fun Unity Stamp on this card called Dying Eggs. I'm entering this card into the Unity Friday Friends with Flair Challenge.

My card isn't the most CAS card I've ever made, but I really wanted to use this Unity Easter Stamp and try some multicolor heat embossing. I used green, pink and blue Stampin' Up Embossing Powders. I outlined the embossed image with a slightly bigger panel of Certainly Celery card stock also from Stampin' Up. I thought it needed just a little something else, so I sprayed the background with one spray each of a blue, green and pink spray from Lindy's Stamp Gang. To  finish it off I added a little light green twine from Stampin' Up.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit the blogs of the other awesome designers taking part in our Easter 5 for 5 Event. Thanks so much for joining us this week and I hope you're inspired to make some amazing Easter cards and crafts. 5 for 5 Easter Blog Event - Day 4

Hello and welcome to Day 4 of our new 5 for 5 Easter Blog Event!  Each day our designers will post an Easter project based on that day’s theme. Today’s theme is "Baskets"! Some of us are offering prizes, so be sure to leave comments on each of links below and visit all the blogs for details on how to win!

To make this card I started with the basket. I cut the basket out on  my Scan N Cut , it's an image that comes with the machine. I wanted to make it be large enough to full up most of the card. It's made from DCWV paper. Then, I stamped some eggs with Archival Inks on card stock in similar colors. The egg stamps are from WPlus9. I made the grass with a border punch. The sentiment is a Denami Designs Rubber stamps.

The sentiment is from Wplus9. Then I matted it with yellow and aqua papers from Papertrey Ink. It was easy and fun. You could do lots of these quickly.

5 for 5 Easter Blog Event - Day 2

Hello and welcome to Day 2 of our new 5 for 5 Easter Blog Event!  Each day our designers will post an Easter project based on that day’s theme. Today’s theme is Pink and Lavender! Some of us are even offering prizes, so be sure to leave comments on each of links below and visit all the blogs for details on how to win!

To make my card I started out with a 5x5 square of lavender basket weave paper from Anna Griffin. I colored the bunny from Reverse Confetti Stamps with Copics. Then, I decided to try out cutting felt on my new Brother Crafter Scan N Cut. It worked like a charm. So, I cut out some eggs in different colors of pink and purple, then I decided to cut out a border from pink felt. I added a silver doily from Studio Calico, cut a rounded square from pink felt and cut the words out of paper with my Scan n Cut. The words were in the Scan N Cut software, I just resized them.

Easter 5 for 5 - Day 1

Hello and welcome to Day 1 of our new 5 for 5 Easter Blog Event!  Each day our designers will post an Easter project based on that day’s theme. Today’s theme is BUNNIES! Some of us are even offering prizes, so be sure to leave comments on each of links below and visit all the blogs for details on how to win!

Today I have a card full of PEEPS. I love to eat PEEPs, plus I think they look really cool. I was introduced to Just For Fun Stamps at the Stamp and Scrap Art Show that came to town last month. I did the Friday night Make & Takes, and that's where I first saw these Peeps stamps. Of course I had to have them. I ended up buying LOTS of JFFStamps. They have some really cool mixed media stamps and some other just really nice and different images.

They sell the large frame stamp that I used on this card and there is a matching mask for the frame so it's easy to stamp individual images in each pane. I colored the card with Prismacolor Pencils and blended with Gamsol. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit the blog of the other awesome designers taking part in our Easter 5 for 5 Event. Check back tomorrow for Day 2 fun and inspiration.

Christmas Card Challenges #15

It's time for this week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week our Challenge is an Inspiration Photo - Blue & Silver Ornaments.  I hope you will get a head start on your Christmas cards and join us this week. We now pick a weekly winner and honorable mentions! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to drop by tomorrow for the first day of our Easter 5 for 5 Event!

For my card I made a blue background using my new KOI watercolors in various shades of blue. Then I heat embossed the ornaments with silver embossing powder from Stampin' Up. The ornaments are from an old Hero Arts/Studio Calico stamp set I got years ago in a Studio Calico Monthly Kit. I added some silver bows to finish off the little scene and added a silver panel offset on the white card base.

Christmas Card Challenges #14

It's time for this week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week our Challenge is to use only sentiments on your Christmas Card.  I hope you will get a head start on your Christmas cards and join us this week. We now pick a weekly winner and honorable mentions! Thanks for stopping by!

I ended up making two cards for this challenge, because they were so fun and easy to make. To make these cards, I stamped a Hero Arts background stamp in Versafine black archival ink and then used different distress inks to color the card. Then I sprayed them with some Silver Smooch Spritz, more on the second one. Finally, I inked the edges with a Prima Black Coal edger.  To finish off the card I added some Tim Holtz paper string and a Holiday token.

Friend with Flair Friday

This week for my Friends with Flair project I made another mini art journal page. To make this page I covered the page with patterned paper and covered with DecoArt DecoPage. Then I stamped a Unity Ruler Stamp and the Burlap background stamp on the background in Watering Can Archival Ink. I also added some circles and other images with a TCW Stencil.

I wanted to tone down the backgound so I swiped Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Picket Fence across the background a few time to make the stamped images a little more subtle. Then I spritzed some Dylusions White spray on the page. Then I stamped the flower in Black Versafine Ink and colored it in with Stamper's Big Brush  Pens and went around the edges with the white Big Brush Pen. To add a little color I rubbed on some blue, green and lime Gelatos in the background. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, it's from the same Unity set as the flower. Then I sprayed Slate Gray Dylusions spray to finish it off. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #10 - Birds of a Feather

It's time for the March Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #10. This month our theme is "Birds of a Feather".  Just make a mixed media project with anything "birdie" like birds, feathers, eggs, nests, etc...

Our sponsor this month is Faber Castell Design Memory Craft. They are graciously offering 2 awesome Gelatos Sets for prizes so we will have 2 random winners!!!  Our designers used their Faber Castell Design Memory Craft products on their projects this month. And, our guest designer is on the permanent Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Design Team - Rita Barakat. Be sure to visit the blog to see Rita's awesome projects and all the other inspirational projects from our design team.

Here's my Birds of a Feather Project. I used tons of Faber Castell Design Memory Craft products on this card. I'm sorry I didn't take any photos along the way, but I wasn't really sure if this would be my project. But, I'll tell you what I did.

First I painted a cardstock panel with Chalkboard Paint and then lightly distressed it with a sanding block. Then, I colored some Whipped Spackle with Tim Holtz Pewter Distress Paint and applied it in through the diamond pattern of a Dylusions stencil to the card. After it dried I wanted to darken the diamonds so I roughly brushed a Gray Stamper's Big Brush Pen over each one. Then, I went over the diamonds again with a Zig Wink of Stella Silver Pen to add some sparkles.

I die cut the bird and cage with some of my Gelli Print papers. I rubbed a yellow Gelato over the bird to give it more color and then I covered the bird with Glass Bead Glitter Gel.  I covered the bird cage with Glaze Medium. I also picked up some yellow and gray flowers from the $1 bin at Michaels and I ended up coloring them with silver and gold Wink of Stella Glitter Pens.

I used Papercrafter's Clay to make the charms on the bottom of the bird cage. I formed the little drop shapes by using some little clay cutters. Before they dried, I punched a hole in them with a craft pick. When they dried, I colored them with Tim Holtz Tarnished Bronze Distress Paint and then colored with a gold Wink of Stella Pen for sparkle. I attached them using Tim Holtz little rings.  Then I dyed some Tim Holtz ribbon with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain and Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold to add a little shine. Finally, I added the sentiment which is from a Dina Wakley Stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will play along with our birds of a feather challenge this month!!

Christmas Card Challenges #13 - Color Challenge

It's time for this week's challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have a Winter Hues Color Challenge.  I hope you will get a head start on your Christmas cards and join us this week. We now pick a weekly winner and honorable mentions! Thanks for stopping by!

I added this tree ornament that I made to the front of my card. To make the tree I cut a triangle out of grunge board and added some burlap, and trims by Amy Tangerine and Maya Road. The brad at the top is from Cosmo Cricket. The papers are from the Crate Paper Bundled Up Collection.
