Maya Road Sparkle & Shine Kit

I recently cancelled my long time monthly kit subscription and I've been looking around for new kits to try that focus mainly on embellishments. I have plenty of stamps and papers. I found the Maya Road Sparkle & Shine holiday kit and fell in love. I ended up ordering the matching paper pad from Fancy Pants which came today and I was inspired to make these three items tonight. I can't wait to find more time to make more things with all the cool stuff in the kit. It's really filled with tons of awesome crafty goodness for a great price. Here is a link if you want to see what comes in the kit.

First I made this card. I just LOVE that red flower I have Maya Road lace tape in several colors, but this green is perfect for Christmas Cards.

For my second card I used some more of the pretty patterned papers and the green seam binding. The kit comes with this exclusive sentiment which I love. I just put it over circles I made from other paper in the collection.

Than, I altered the paper mache box that the kit came it. I added the some fun papers with some deer on the top added some glitter tape to the box to edges. On the side of the lid I put the green lace tape. I painted the bottom of the box to match the patterned paper.

Then I made two card. The first one used

Avery Elle Challenge #18

I made this card for the current Avery Elle Challenge. The theme is holiday. I've had this snowman for a while and I really wanted to use him. I used Bo Bunny Candy Cane Lane papers. I colored the snowman with a white chalk marker to make him a slightly different white than his hat. The tag die is from Pretty Pink Posh. Thanks for stopping by!

Don't forget the 12 Days of Holiday Projects starts next Monday, December 1. I've got lots of cards, ornaments, banners, decor items, etc... to share with you. I can't wait!!

Christmas Card Challenges #52

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have an inspiration photo challenge. Since the colors were sort of dark and it's a tree, I was inspired to make a card using my Tim Holtz Blue Prints Tree stamp. I colored the images with Distress Markers and added some Stickles to the star and the ornaments. The colored papers match Tim's color palette, they're Kraft Coordinations. I'm excited to see what you come up with this week for this fun challenge. Thanks for stopping by!'

Welcome Baby!

Today the other girls and I at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge have a fun post for our designer Lalo Ik. Lalo had her fifth baby a month ago today on October 22, 2014. We each made a mixed media baby project as a way to say Congratulations to Lalo and her new bundle of joy. Be sure to head on over to The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge to see a picture of her new little guy and check out the other projects from The MMMC design team.

I made an 8x10 canvas. I covered it with starry theme papers, then painted over the background in a medium/dark blue color. I wanted to be able to see some of the papers underneath. Then I added some colorful crafty sticks from Hobby Lobby and a wooden star from Michaels. I painted the star with yellow acrylic paint and covered the inner raised star with Stickles.

I sprayed the canvas letters from Little Yellow Bicycle with Dylusions spray inks. When I was finished I outlined the star, the canvas and the letters with Stampers Big Brush Pens in similar colors. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to go leave Lalo some love on the post at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #6 - Stamps

It's time for a new challenge over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!! This month our challenge is to use stamps in your mixed media project. Our sponsor is Unity Stamp Company and they are generously offering a $50 gift certificate to our lucky random winner!! All our designers used fabulous Unity stamps in their designs. Be sure to click over and see all the amazing creations our designers made for this months challenge.

I made a little wall hanging for my project. I started with a piece of fiberboard that I think I ordered from Scarlet Lime. I really like how one side of it is textured like burlap. I made that side the front. Then I added a corrugated cardboard panel and I inked the panel and edges with the Sepia Ink. I put an orange Tim Holtz trim around the cardboard panel. Finally, I added a Tim Holtz Holiday Thanksgiving trim for the hanger and attached it with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

To make the turkey, I used an awesome set from Unity called Build-A-Turkey. I stamped all the feathers on different "fall" colored cardstock from Papertrey Ink and Stampin' Up using Ranger Sepia Archival Ink and cut them out. I adhered the wings and the turkey to the panel and added Espresso sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to each of the feathers. Then I added Fired Brick Distress Stickles to the turkey for a little accent. The sentiment banner is a die from Papertrey Ink and I added two orange sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. It was super fun to make and I really like how it turned out.

I hope you will play along with our stamps challenge this month. I can't wait to see what you create!!
