Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #35 - "What's Your Superpower?"

It's time for a new The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month we are creating projects that showcase or represent your "Superpower".  Such a fun topic. Don't let this topic scare you - maybe your superpower is creating awesome Vintage ATCs, or using Gelatos to create unusual backgrounds, or maybe using up your crafty stash.

Our Guest Designer this month is famous Comic Book Designer Brett Weldele.  Our sponsor this month is Stampers Anonymous. Our lucky random winner will get a prize package of Brett's stamps and stencils. I hope you will come play with us this month for this fun challenge!!

For my project I created a card made with stamps from a Brett Weldele Stampers Anonymous stamp set called Party Monsters. I'm showcasing my "Superpower" of using sprays. I'm an expert sprayer. I have TONS of sprays - Distress Spray Inks, Dylusions, Heidi Swapp, DecoArt and my new favorites Tattered Angels. I used Tattered Angels sprays on this card.

To start, I black heat embossed the monster and the sentiment. Then I added some Molotow masking to the monster so I could spray over the card and not worry about ruining him.

Then I sprayed several different colored Tattered Angels Spray Inks all over the card.

Tattered Angels Mists

Then I painted the monster using the Glimmer Mists and paintbrush and added some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks around the edges of the monster.

Topflight Stamps Grand Opening Blog Hop!!

It's finally time to share a new project I have been working on for a few months now.  I've opened up an online store that carries only stamps manufactured outside the US. I was having a hard time finding some international stamps that I liked and when I found them sometimes I had to go to different stores to get all the ones I wanted or purchase from large stores with huge free shipping minimums or stores that don't even offer free shipping or regular sales.

So, I decided to open up Topflight Stamps, LLC. I've tried to gather a great selection of stamps from all over the world including the UK, France, Norway, The Netherlands, India, Australia, etc... I'm adding new stamps and brands all the time so be sure to follow our blog for updates on our brands and stamps.

Now, let's get going with the Grand Opening Info and Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to Topflight Stamps, LLC Grand Opening!!!  We can't wait to share with you our fun and different art stamps from all around the world. What makes us different? You can shop for hard to find, international stamps all in one place. And, we offer free shipping for US addresses for orders over $50!!

We also have an amazing Grand Opening Special Discount
20% off ALL ordersuse code TFS-GO20

Today we have an AWESOME blog hop (read through the end of this post for details) with some of the best paper crafters in the industry. They are each featuring some of our favorite stamps, many you probably have not seen before. Be sure to comment on this blog and all the blogs on the hop to be eligible for the GRAND PRIZE a $50 store credit!!!  PLUS  - each of the designers in this blog hop are giving away a $10 gift certificate to one of the commenters on their post. I will announce my winner here on Monday, April 3.  The $50 Grand Prize winner will be announced on the Topflight Stamps Blog on the same day. Good luck!!

I’m sharing a project made with and IndigoBlu Dinkie stamp set called Aloysius/Happy Birthday. I decided to make two cards. The first one is more masculine and second one is more feminine.

To create this card I sprayed piece of white Bristol paper with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists shown below, Lobster, It's Orange, and Ruby Slipper. I also sprayed with water to mix the colors. When it was dry I sprayed the area where I stamped the bear with water several times and blotted with a paper towel to lighten that area so the bear would show up better.  It's a little more pronounced in person than in the picture. I stamped the bear and sentiment with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide

To make it more festive I cut out a birthday hat from a Tim Holtz stamp set and colored it with the same Glimmer Mists I used for the background and adhered it with some foam tape. As I was looking for brown card stock, I saw a jar in my craft room with some brown rick rack and I thought it would be perfect for this card. So, I added Rick Rack around the edges with PPA Glue to make a cute frame. And, I used up some of my stash. That's always a plus.

For this card I used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists (Party Pink, Pink Poodle, Baby Pink, Amethyst) and then added some sprays of water and blotted several times to lighten up the stamping area. I still used Distress Oxide Ink in Vintage Photo to stamp the bear and sentiment. On this one, I stamped the hat directly on the card and colored it in with the Glimmer Mists.

I wasn't happy with my first stamping of the bear so I stamp it a second time. But, I liked the sentiment from the first card, so I cut out a strip with the sentiment and cut off the sentiment on the card with this bear and added the strip to the bottom. Since I had my Rick Rack out, I added it around the sentiment using PPA glue.

Now, be sure to check out all these blogs and comment for your chance to win a prize!! Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly "Sweet Inspiration" - Mid Month Inspiration

I made another project for this month's Mixed Media Monthly "Sweet Inspiration" Challenge. I wanted to use my Stampendous Urban Scribble stamp and stencil set designed by Nathalie Kalbach. I really love this set and how many ways you can use it. It has a rubber stamp and a foam stamp that has a flat side and a detailed side. Plus, it comes with a cool stencil.

To start my art journal page, I painted on the flat side of the foam stamp with PaperArtsy Fresco paints. Then, I stamped on top of the paint with the rubber stamp using Archival Ink. To fill out the rest of the journal page I created a frame around the city using the Dylusions large journaling block. I covered the "frame" area with Dreamweaver Pearlescent Paste from Stampendous and painted over it with PaperArtsy blue paints. While the blue paints were wet I sprinkled some Frantage Glitters over it. It's hard to see in the photo, but the frame is quite randomly sparkly.

Then, I used the stencil to fill in the area around the city and to tone down that color I painted over the stenciled area with some white watercolor paint. To make it more of a "Valentine's Day" theme I traced the large heart using a Maya Road mask and painted it in with Pearlescent Embossing paste that I colored with PaperArtsy red translucent paints. The letters are a Tim Holtz font that I covered with the white Pearlescent paste. To finish it off I added some black and white pen work and some small heart shaped bling on the buildings.

Christmas Card Challenges #6

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have a Photo Inspiration challenge with some horses in the snow.  I can't wait to see what you create!

I was inspired by the horses and the snow. Since I don't have any horse stamps, I used an my Ellen Hutson Leaping Deer die. I also used a 12x12 paper pad from Recollections called Ice Crystals. I sprayed a few sprays of Tattered Angels Chocolate Brown Glimmer Mist on the background paper just to make it a little more interesting. I also used an Espresso Distress Marker to line the edges of the deer and other elements of the card to make them stand out a little.  I adhered the deer and sentiment with foam tape. I also went over the snowflakes in the deer and the letters with a clear Wink of Stella pen so you can see a little sparkle. Thanks for stopping by!

PaperArtsy Love Mini Pallet

I created this Valentine's mini pallet (Maya Road) using PaperArtsy Emma Godfrey stamps and paints and Archival Inks. To finish it off I covered the heart in Tattered Angels Glitter Glam glitter paint.  I was inspired to enter the PaperArtsy challenge by this post by Tracy Scott.

I took some pictures along the way of the process. Here they are.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #33 - Sweet Inspiration

It's time for a new challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Our theme is "Sweet Inspiration." Just take inspiration from our challenge graphic. Our sponsor this month is the awesome stamp company Stampendous.  They are offering our random monthly winner a $25 gift certificate.

They were very generous to send our design team members, stamps, modeling paste and their Dreamweaver stencils!! I made a card using stamps from one of the new Pink Your Life stamp sets, and a Mason Jar stamp and die set, and a Make It Pop cutting set.

On the front of the card, I stamped flowers and butterflies in Versamark Ink and brushed pink Perfect Pearls over it to make a subtle background. I used the label and oval dies from the Make it Pop die set and HELLO from a Pink Your Life stamp set. I inked the edges of everything with a Teal ink from Prima.

On the inside of the card, I used one of the Pop Up dies to make the flowers and mason jar stand up when you open the card. I had made a card that didn't work using lots of ink sprays, a Dreamweaver stencil with and Pearlized modeling paste. I decided to use some of the other dies in the die set to cut up the background of my card and added it to the middle of the inside of the card. Finally, with an ink blender brush, I added Distress ink in Shaded Lilac to the white card stock I used to line the inside of the card. The lavender card stock I used for the card is from Stampin' Up. I colored the flowers and mason jar with Prisma colored pencils. I also added some glitter pens to the flowers and sentiment on the front of the card.

Christmas Card Challenges #5

It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This time we have a Word Prompt Challenge - Snow. That's a fun prompt. I can't wait to see your wintery snowy creations.

For my card I used papers, borders, stencils and shapes from the Snow Fun Collection by Carta Bella.  I used white pigment ink in Unicorn from Hero Arts to create the snowflakes using the Snow Fun stencil. I felt like the background was too strong with the white on dark navy paper, so I covered it with a piece of vellum to tone it down. I cut the border with a die from My Favorite Things. Finally, I cut one of the border strips and created a little tree from the words on the border and added a star to the top.  This card was inspired by the words "snow" in so many ways. Thanks for stopping by!!

Christmas Card Challenges #4

It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This time we have a Photo Challenge. There's no time like the "present" to get started on your cards for next year. I can't wait to see what you create.

For my card I used gold foil papers by Craft Smith from Michaels from a stack called Gold Gifts. I was inspired by the colors in the photo. I added some Xmas Red Stickles to the gold berries and I die cut the word peace in red glitter paper. The peace word die is from Papertrey Ink.  This was a fun and easy card that would be perfect for making in multiples.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #32 - Put a Stencil On It

It's time for another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Our theme is "Put a Stencil On It." This month we are sponsored by Stencilgirl Products and they are offering our winner a $25 gift certificate!! Our guest designer is Stencilgirl owner Mary Beth Shaw.

Also, we are introducing our newest designer Lynne Forsythe!! I think you will love what she made for our January Challenge.

Since it was January I was thinking it would be good to make Thank You Cards for all those gifts I got over the holidays. I wanted to use blue colors since I think of January as a "blue" color kind of month.

To start, I picked out a piece of blue patterned paper. It's from an old 6x6 paper pad in my stash and I don't know what company it is from. I wanted a pattern that wasn't too busy for me to put a stencil on top of it.
First, I colored some DecoArt Media Modeling Paste with
several different blue Tattered Angels sprays.
Then, I applied the modeling paste to the stencil leaving it thicker and thinner in different places.
I taped the stencil to my craft sheet using Washi tape so it wouldn't move around.
Finally, added some Prima Crystal Glass Beads. They stuck to the thicker areas.
I let it dry completely and added a spray of spray adhesive to help adhere the beads.
Then, I knocked the edges to take off any beads that were not adhering strongly.

To finish off the card I adhered the paper using double sided tape to a dark gray card base.
To create the sentiment I used a Lawn Fawn die and sticky back craft foam.

Christmas Card Challenges #3

Happy New Year!! It's time for another Christmas Card Challenge. This time we have a Color Challenge - very neutral and calming colors. There's no time like the present to get started on cards for next year. I can't wait to see what you create.

For my card I used the Ellen Hutson Stag Die and a Hero Arts Merry Christmas die with some patterned papers to make this quick and simple Christmas card. To finish it off I add some Studio Calico Enamel dots. Thanks for stopping by!!
