Andy Skinner Deco Art Bright Challenge

I made this art journal page for the new "Bright" Challenge by Andy Skinner. I used DecoArt Media Gesso and Fluid Acrylics and the Andy Skinner Hippychick stencils & masks. I also used my white Signo pen to outline the images and make them stand out. When I checked out the link just now, I saw another entry that is very similar to mine -but I promise I never even looked at the other entries. We just used the same technique with the same stencil. I'm still entering since I spent a lot of time and actually thought about it a lot before I started working on it. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Card Challenges #13

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have a Photo Inspiration. It's never too early to start on your Christmas cards! I can't wait to see what you create.

Of course I was inspired by the purple background. I created my purple background using my new Tim Holtz crayons in Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire. The white tree and sentiment are embossed. I used more of the Chipped Sapphire on the sentiment so it would stand out from the purple background. I used Hero Arts Family and Friends Christmas stamps. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Card Challenges #12

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week it's everybody's favorite - Anything Goes. I can't wait to see what you create.

I really wanted to try out my new Tim Holtz Crayons. I created the background with crayons. Then I used a Hero Art stamp set for the snowman and sentiment. I really like how the black and white snowman looks on the colorful and bright background. Thanks for stopping by!

Art Journal - Mixed Media Monthly Mid-Month Inspiration

Hello there! Today I'm sharing an art journal page I created using some new colors of PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk paints. The colors I used were Zucchini, Caribbean Sea, Baltic Blue and Coral. These are all new colors to the Fresco paint line that have just been released. Our design team at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge was generously given these paints to use in our February "Glitter" Challenge by PaperArtsy.

PaperArtsy has been one of my absolute FAVORITE companies since I learned about them in 2013 on a trip to London. They are from the UK and they make gorgeous stamps, Fresco Chalk paints, and they have really good instructional videos. There are only a few stores in the US that carry their products, and our February sponsor Frantic Stamper is one of them.

I created an art journal page using the four new paint colors I mentioned above and several different patterned brayers. Then I used a really fun new PaperArtsy stamp set by Emma Godfrey. I added my  "glitter" on the solid black hearts with a Wink of Stella pen. It's hard to see in the photo.

Christmas Card Challenges #10

It's time for another challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges. This week we have Photo Inspiration. It's time to start thinking about next year, so why not get started on next years cards now? I can't wait to see what you create.

I was inspired by the night sky in the picture and the reindeer.  I created my background using several colors of Distress Inks that I applied to the card with a foam blending tool. The reindeer is from a Darcies Stamp Set called Polar Express (he's supposed to be a little splotchy) and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly #21 - Glitter

It's time for a new challenge over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #21 - Glitter. This month our theme is Glitter!! Our sponsor this month is the awesome online crafty retailer Frantic Stamper. They're offering a $25 gift certificate to our lucky random winner!! If you aren't familiar with Frantic Stamper you should check them out. They have a HUGE selection of papercrafting and mixed media supplies.

And, our entire Design Team was given some brand new colors of PaperArtsy Fresco paints by Leandra, the owner of Paperartsy, to use on our projects. We were so excited. Frantic Stamper is one of the few online retailers in the US/Canada who carry PaperArtsy products. Not familiar with PaperArtsy?? I first learned of PaperArtsy on my last trip to London when I went to Blade Rubber Stamps. I purchased some PaperArtsy JOFY rubber stamps and I was hooked! I was so happy to find their stamps and paints at Frantic Stamper. Frantic Stamper has a such a huge inventory and really fast shipping. I know because I shop there several times a year.
And now to my project. I decided to decorate my large Dylusions Art Journal.  I started out with using all my new PaperArtsy Fresco paints. These are the paints I received!! I already had several of these Fresco Paints. They are chalk paints, they dry really quickly and I love to use them!!

I put a coat of Faber Castell Gesso over my art journal that had a spray of Bubblegum Pink
Dylusions ink spray on it so the Gesso made it the pink spread out.

Then, I put a small amount of each paint on a piece of Cut-N-Dry foam and
rubbed them randomly all over the cover to make a background.

Next, I cut out a large heart from copy paper and put in on my art journal cover and
traced it with a pencil. Then I used different colors of Archival Inks and several
of my PaperArtsy stamp sets to stamp different shapes on the background.

Then I painted brush strokes out from the heart with Caribbean Sea paint and then on top
of that with the brand new color Baltic Blue. When I finished I outlined
the heart with the Caribbean Blue to add some definition.

I wasn't sure what to do next. I thought about some letters I had and decided the word ART would fit in the space. I painted the letters with the new color of Bubblegum Pink Fresco Paint and doodled around the edges of the heart and the letters with my Faber Castell Black Pitt Pen. Then I covered them with Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel. I just painted them while they were on the craft sheet. It's kind of hard to see how glittery the letters are in the photo, but they are really glittery!

Here is the final art journal cover. Hope you are inspired to make a fun glittery project.
And, be sure to check out Frantic Stamper. All the new PaperArtsy products
are there now and available to ship immediately!!
