Me with Wendy Vecchi!!

Today I took a class with Wendy Vecchi at my local stamp store called The Stamping Place and Scrapbook Station in West Columbia, SC. My style is more CAS than Wendy's, but I knew she was a great teacher and I really want to learn more about her artsy vintage style. I had a great time - she was so sweet and taught me so many things.

I've never used grunge board before and it was so much fun! I also learned a lot about using Distress Inks and Stains.  We used products I've never used before and I have tons of ideas for how I can use some of my new finds. Below is a picture of me and Wendy and a picture of the piece that we made. It is called "Do not even think about messing with the Queen." With a title like that who wouldn't want to go to this class??

Loverly London!

I made this card for the Simon Says Stamp and Show Vintage Challenge. The theme is travel and my favorite city in the world to travel to is London. I love it so much I'm including some pics of me there. The last time went was summer 2009 and I hope to get back in summer 2013 - I think 2012 will be too busy with the Olympics!

The background map stamp is a Studio Calico & Hero Arts exclusive stamp from the Studio Calico KOM. The other stamps are from Artistic Outpost. I used three different distress inks and I was going to do the Union Jack in blue and red, but after I did the rest of the card I decided to keep it relatively monochromatic. So here's another try for me at making a "vintagey" card. Thanks for taking a look!!

Materials
1. Card stock - Whisper White (Stampin Up)
2. Stamps - Map (Studio Calico & Hero Arts) Loverly London, London Underground (Artistic Outpost)
3. Distress Inks - Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen (Tim Holtz - Ranger)

Take Ten Autumn 2011

Just a quick post today. Last week I was on Twitter and saw a sneak peek of the new Stamper's Sampler Take Ten Autumn 2011 Magazine. I was thrilled when I saw one of my circus cards. Stamper's Sampler Magazines don't send e-mails if you get published, they send you a complimentary copy. So last week I got two Take Tens in the mail. I subscribe so I got my normal copy and the complimentary one.

I was excited to see my card, but when I looked through the whole magazine, I found a second card that I made featuring the Dragonfly from Stampin' Ups Bugs & Kisses set. Take Ten is a great magazine with lots of cards in all different styles that can be made in ten minutes or less. If you have a copy, check out my cards, they are on p. 120 & 125. It will be on newsstands September 1. Click the picture to link to the sneak peak - my card is the CIRQUE one.

Sept/Oct Paper Crafts Magazine

Just a quick post today before I go to work!! My first ever published card is in the Sept/Oct Paper Crafts Magazine which should be in stores this week.  I'm so excited about it! It's in the Circus Section on page 71.

If you don't subscribe to Paper Crafts I would highly recommend it. It's really the reason I got into making cards. Their magazines and special editions are filled with cards of all different styles, using current products and trends. I quickly found out that the cards I gravitated to the most and really loved were generally created by Teri Anderson one of the Paper Crafts Go To Gals. She has a great style and I find her work to be very inspiring. But, I love all the Go To Gals and I try to find inspiration in all the cards I look at even if they're not really my style - they still might have elements I would like to try. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!
