Mixed Media Monthly #30 - Color Inspiration

It's time for a new challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month we have a fun color challenge. These colors go with all your Fall/Autumn/Thanksgiving projects. Our sponsor is The Funkie Junkie Boutique and they are offering our lucky random winner an amazing prize package. Check it out on the blog. Our Guest Designer is Suzanne Czocek, be sure to check out her awesome project.

I made this altered canvas. I used PaperArtsy paints and lots of Wendy Vecchi stamps. The center is made from Wendy Vecchi Art Parts. I added some Canvas Corp accents - the burlap behind the leaves and the cord under the frame.

Here are some pictures of the process.

Wendy Vecchi Mini Journal Page

I created a this page in my Wendy Vecchi Fat Little Mini Book. I stamped her background stamp in Archival Ink and colored in each square with different Archival Ink Colors and a small blender tool. The large flower is a Wendy Vecchi Art Part. I heat embossed it with a mixture of distress embossing powders and enamel embossing powder to add more texture. I added a Wendy Vecchi button and tied a bow with Tim Holtz trim. The stamp is a Wendy Vecchi wood mount stamps, I only used a part of the sentiment. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #23 - Dimension

It's time for another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Our theme this month is "Dimension." Just create a project that has some dimension. Our guest designer is the fabulous Wendy Vecchi!! She's made a gorgeous inspiration piece. Our sponsor is Stampers Anonymous. We will have TWO random winners and they will each receive a Wendy Vecchi stamp set and stencil!! How awesome is that?

I had so much fun playing with all my Wendy Vecchi products. I ended up making 8 pages filling up one of Wendy's Mini Mat Fat Little Books. Here is one page in the book. I will share the other pages throughout the month.

For this page I created the background using Tim Holtz Crayons and a Bret Weldle stencil.

To create the flower I stamped a Wendy Stamp from a set called Sketch Art on her Whiteout paper. I used Ranger Archival Ink to stamp the flower and Wendy Vecchi Archival inks in Tiger Lily and Orange Blossom to color in the flower.

I used a heat gun to heat up the flower and bend the petals - that's the cool part about her Whiteout (and Blackout) papers. The center of the flower, the heart, and the leaves are Wendy art parts. To color the leaves I painted them with white Gesso and then added Wendy Vecchi Archival ink in Pink Peony and Ranger Archival ink in Rose Madder. Then I stamped on the leaves with a Wendy background stamp. The fence on the bottom is a Wendy Stencil and I used Wendy's Embossing Paste colored with Tim Holtz Wilted Violet Distress Spray Stain. The sentiment are words from Tim Holtz Chit Chat.

Curtain Call Challenge - Cozy Quilt

I'm made this card for the current Curtain Call Challenge - Cozy Quilt. After looking at the inspiration photo I decided to make a card using different patterned papers for the petals of my flower. The flower stamp is one of may favorite stamps. It's from a Wendy Vecchi set called Sketch Art. All the papers on the card are from the DCWV Freshly Picked Stack. I just love the colors in this collection. The sentiment is DCWV - Vintage Collector. I stamped is with black archival ink. Thanks for stopping by!

Here's the inspiration photo.

Tuesday Trigger - Garden Glory

I finally made this card for the current Tuesday Trigger - Garden Glory. I was inspired by the flower in picture, the green pattern on the chair and the blue in the flower and the book. I used Wendy Vecchi Sketch Art Stamp set for the flower and an exclusive Studio Calico Kit Club stamp that is from Studio Calico and Hero Arts for the background. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday. Thanks for taking a look!

Me with Wendy Vecchi!!

Today I took a class with Wendy Vecchi at my local stamp store called The Stamping Place and Scrapbook Station in West Columbia, SC. My style is more CAS than Wendy's, but I knew she was a great teacher and I really want to learn more about her artsy vintage style. I had a great time - she was so sweet and taught me so many things.

I've never used grunge board before and it was so much fun! I also learned a lot about using Distress Inks and Stains.  We used products I've never used before and I have tons of ideas for how I can use some of my new finds. Below is a picture of me and Wendy and a picture of the piece that we made. It is called "Do not even think about messing with the Queen." With a title like that who wouldn't want to go to this class??
