It's time for a new challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. Our theme this month is "Reach for the Stars." Our Guest Designer and sponsor is the amazing mixed media artist Seth Apter. He's giving away one his new stamp sets to our lucky random winner!!
We are also introducing a new member of our design team - Clare Messenger. Be sure to check out the blog to see Clare's inspiring mixed media project and give her a warm welcome. I know you will love her art. Remember to check back on July 15 when we will introduce another new member of our design team!!
I created a patriotic red, white and blue card this month.
I started off creating a background with various Tim Holtz distress stains, paints, and inks.
But, I wasn't thrilled with background so I ended up cutting out my stars which are Seth Apter dies from the paper that was going to be the background.
Then I made another background. I stamped the background with a Seth Apter stamp multiple times with Versamark Ink. Then I used a couple of colors of red Distress inks to finish off the background. Then, I added a Tim Holtz chit chat sticker sentiment to finish it off.
But, I still felt like it was missing something so went around the edges of the stars with a
Dylusions white paint pen.
I love how you have used the dies here Donna.
ReplyDeleteFab project. I love how a little white pen can make a world of difference to a design :)
ReplyDeleteWay to make use of the first background! I love how you used the Seth Apter background stamp on the final piece. It looks very textured.
ReplyDeleteBoth beautiful backgrounds, you were right, the white pen emphasized the stars giving more depth and light. Gorgeous!
